A stand and a cover is a very good idea for a hardcover (and not at all bizarre. I don't know if Doug has ever had a convertible with a hardcover, but you always have to be super careful when you get it in or out your garage (or shed or whatever) and onto or off your car, because one touch with the wall or the ground and you have an ugly scratch on your beautiful hardtop. They can be pretty heavy too, so wheels to move them around is an excellent idea (I had one for a four-seater BMW Alpina B3 that was rather heavy, also had a two-seater Toyota MR2, that one was light compared to the of of the BMW. You have to prepare a place in your garage where you are going to put it (if you just put it on the ground and let it lean against the wall, you'll get - again - scatches. When you store your hardtop (which is usually lined with some nice material such as Alcantara) for a few months during the spring and summer, if you don't improvise some kind of cover you will find it is full of spider webs and all kind of other muck that you don't want, so a cover that's specially made for the hardtop is a very good idea and again not bizarre Of course, these are things you should expect from a 129. 000 (in 2000) convertible but I have never seen them together with any other convertible. I really like Doug but sometimes he should do a little more thinking before he judges things to be bizarre. (he has a habit of doing these kinds of things more often when he doesn't get why some quirk or feature is there, although there is often a very good reason.

The Alpina version was specifically made to be a better grand tourer. The engine they used was lower hp, but had higher torque that came on sooner. The suspension was also softened and they did away with the harsher feeling run-flats. In this respect, the auto transmission makes sense. If you wanted more of a direct, thrilling car, definitely choose the standard Z8. If you're more about cruising in style, the Alpina is for you.

THIS is a 2000 BMW Z8, and its one of the most beautiful cars of all time. Nah, its just rare. Ive never understood the 130k+ Miatas made by BMW/Mercedes. I dont care how rare this car is, theres no way you can convince me that this car is worth as much or more than a 430 Scud, a Gallardo Superleggera, a GT3 RS, a base model Huracan, a 458 or a manual LP640. And thats exactly the price range this thing sits in.

I adore the 507 but, I just don't love this. I try to ignore a bad fascia but, this one is just not great. The headlights are in the wrong place and it looks busy as a result. I understand that this was done to meet regulations but, that's a shame since with a better front end this car would be a lot better looking.

I do agree on the single most beautiful retro car. I had never heard anything about this car until I met one 10yo, just behind me on the highway. First thing I did when I parked was: what is it and how much does it cost. And believe it or not, but after ten years, I'm now still driving my Civic.

Nice ROI if you've got that kind of. I'm exuberant with my 12K Solstice GXP 20K miles with tune and DDMWorks brace package. Less than 1K in performance upgrades and embarrasses many much more models. And. it was made in the USA Oh, and lets not forget NOT getting raped on service

USA'd British Numberplate (V354FMP is a UK registration from 2000) but still left hand drive, was this car never officially imported into the UK? so had to be imported from Europe as LHD and then was exported to the USA at a later date and the buyer kept the UK reg. ?

No mention of Henry Fisker at all? He left BMW to start Fisker Motors with the launch of Karma. Quirky design is his trademark. Also, what does it take to get a 10 for value? When you get paid to drive and own your car, thats the definition of value dont you think?

So if a European car has really simple and straight forward controls and buttons, to Doug it's cool and unique. But if an American car has simple and straight forward buttons, to Doug it's cheap and lack of effort. I think Doug is biased to European cars.

I'll be honest i thought the styling of this car wasn't anything special, especially the thin slit taillights turned me off a litle but upon seeing the comparison to the 507 i think it's the most faithful and succesful reimagining of any car i've seen.
