Cannot believe so much was made of the raked windscreen, long dashboard and the triangular bits of glass ahead of the door, saying you'll never see the like again. Virtually EVERY car is built like this now, even small cars like the Ford Fiesta and Honda Jazz. Okay the triangular glass varies in size, but it's there on so many cars. MPVs from SEAT, Citroen and Fiat, to name just a few, practically have bay windows ahead of the driver that would better suit a house You could put a widescreen TV and a vase of flowers on the dashboard and hang curtains up at the triangular bits of glass at the sides. Sorry. this is a bugbear of mine. I owned a European (because that's where I am) GM Vauxhall/Opel Astra last year and the blind spots were terrible Thick A pillars and those triangular windows - which due to angles I could see nothing through on the driver's side and very little across on the passenger side - meant I could lose sight of whole cars coming the other way on awkward bends, and with the hood that dropped away with no view from the windscreen, I had no idea where the front wheels were next to the kerb when parking. The Astra was the most unpleasant car I've ever driven, largely, but not exclusively, because of the blind spots created by the window design. Maybe not such an issue sat up in a Previa, but raked screens are here, and here to stay.

My Family Had The Top Of The Line Previa, Sunroof, And Same Color. Husband Had A V6 XLE And We Also Had The Top Of The Line Cressida With Sunroof. When Husband Was Not Working On Weekends We All Would Load Into The Previa. We Never Drove The Cressida. We Took Many Great Trips In This Comfortable Minivan. I Wished I Could Find Another One. It Drove Like Heaven And Was So Comfortable And Large. You Were Also, Able To See In Every Angle Of This Van. We Just Traded In Our Venza For A 2019 Toyata XLE Highlander And Husband Se Toyota Camry. We Are A Toyota Family Forever Great Video

These vans are awesome. Trivia: the supercharger uses a clutch for less drag at low throttoe. which would scare me for anything EXCEPT a 90s Toyota. Quality should get 11/10. this was Toyota's golden age161HP in a minivan of that era was. about the norm. (Even 130 wasn't that low) The Caravan had 140 (3. 0, 150 (3. 3, or 160 (3. 8. The Windstar had 150. The Astro had 160. The real advantage the blower gave was TORQUE-an extra 40lb/ft (150 versus 190, peaking at 3600 instead of 4000RPM. Trivia: the automatic transmission is the same Aisin-Warner unit used in the Jeep Cherokee.

If you think that the greenhouse in the Previa is weird, you should check out the Fiat 500L. My brother has one and I swear there is not a single blind spot. It even has those A pillar windows. The first time this minivan arrived on the scene, it was the most futuristic looking people mover ever. Remember, it's competition at the time was the hideous Ford Aerostar and the bland Caravan/Voyager. But when the Lumina APV/Silhouette/Trans Sport trio hit the market, they just took off. I always liked the Previa and still do. Thanks for the bit of nostalgia.

20: 53 How dare you say the Dodge Caravan was better in any way Dodge auto transmissions were failing at 15% a year in those days and mine was still literally junk at 137k after replacing the transmission at 65k (7/70k warranty was also a big lie. I paid 15k new and got 10 disastrous years out of it. I paid 9k for a 9 yr old Previa with 150k and put another 150k nearly trouble-free miles on it before selling it for 2kwhich car was the better deal?

Wow I had no idea they were so strange inside They are called Tarago in Australia. I always thought the front of them looked weird and I preferred the look of the Mitsubishi Delica (not sure what they're called in the US. Delicas are pretty odd too as 4x4 minivans are kind of an odd idea, have seen them thrashed going four wheel driving before and it's a very weird sight.

I dunno I tend to think that the Lamborghini minivan with the countach engine and gull wing doors was the weirdest. A second would be a cherry red Pontiac Trans Sport GT that I saw on the road many years ago with a GIANT custom yellow wing on it and Autobots decals. That's right. someone cosplayed their 90s Trans Sport GT as Rodimus Prime. And it was gloriously well done.

Toyota already got something called the Estima. It is a replica of the Previa. But the Estima actually is a better than the Previa and its look is very nice with some good body steel. But it is not available in America. The car is only available in Singapore, Malaysia and Japan. Now that a brand new Previa is introduced, you may get confused between these two models.

Doug, I thought you'd know that SUV doors open warning drivers passing the parked car on the driver's side. Minivan makers eliminated the rear left door as with a sliding door, passengers just seem to pop out from nowhere, no door swinging out. Eventually left side doors came about for convenience despite this hazard.
