The 2002 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Silver Arrow was the last old-school Mercedes. Today I'm reviewing this SL500 and I'm showing you all around this great example of the R129 Mercedes SL. Then I'm driving this 2002 SL500 to show you what it's like to get it out on the road. thealien6900: DO NOT LOSE THE KEY Mercedes has not made replacements for well over a year. Classic Mercedes has been saying they are going to be available by end of summer 2019, that hasn't happened. There are only a few locksmiths that can make a key (and not inexpensive. Are the 11 hydraulic cylinders leaking yet? Are the visor hinge covers, over head console, vents, or the console button plastic cracked and broken yet? Can't get many of those parts anymore. I sold my 2000 SL500 sport last year for cheap. Nice driving solid cars except for the known issues

Duude Alga/Melrose Dr, Carlsbad, you just drove right by my first home Love the style of this old school MB, but I owned both the first year and last year of the 1992 and 1999 600 SEL and S600 and cannot say enough bad things about the reliability of the MB's from this era. Horrible repair bills with everything imaginable breaking constantly I kept Charlie's Foreign of Encinitas in business while owning these 2 1990's MB's. Great review

Two things. 1) The Roll Bar deployed automatically if the sense that it will overturn. So it's a mere decision on style nor safety 2) The story of Silver Arrow sates back to 1934. The factory Mercedes racing cars, weighted more than the regulations allowed. So Alfred Neubauer, manager of the Mercedes-Benz racing team, had the white paint ground off, leaving a purely aluminium body that sparkled in silver.

13: 27 The armrest also flips up on a hinge away from the driver, the button is on the driver's side of the console, to reveal another fairly large compartment. Also useful for storing things you don't want others to know about. When I owned an SL500 I kept my Beretta 9mm in there, it and 2 extra magazines fit perfectly inside.

> Describes the convertible top operation button in great detail in the video of his own congertible G-Wagon. > Cheerfully describes the same button a couple of weeks later in another mercedes of the same era as if seeing it for the first time in his life. Happiness is in the little details.

2 Things, If the car rolls over, the roll bar shoots out via pressure. The second thing is, that at least in germany you could order two emergency seats in the back, with a weight limit of 50kg. I know this because we are having one of these cars a 2000 model with these 2 emergency seats in the back.

Technically putting the roof on is a 4 person job, 1 cameraman, 1 jackass watching while wearing two shirts and then 2 people actually doing the job. Im kidding I love Doug and his reviews. Also I understand the two shirts, no one wants sweaty pit marks on his shirt while making a video.

9: 20 Pretty sure what happen was there is a sensor that monitors particulates in the air (smog or pollution. when the sensor detects a certain threshold, the charcoal filter kicks in automatically. hopefully u drove through a smoggy area or maybe you have a malfunctioning sensor.

I actually used to have this car (well my parents did) when I was younger. I would always remember the wind in my hair and the insane speed this thing would be able to do. I'm 15 now and I'm saving up to get an SL in this generation because it was amazing. Thanks for the review
