I Cant Believe Chevy Did This Art Vanden Berg: Gas cars are are only marginally better than electric when the power goes out because the gas cars have more range. When the power goes out the gas stations cannot pump gas or accept your credit cards. You can't even get a 20lb propane tank filled when the power is out, that takes electricity too. When the power goes out, pretty much everyone is totally screwed unless they have a generator and even then only until they run out of gas or it gets stolen. You know some people even buy these backup gensets that run on natural gas when the power is out. Well guess what? The natural gas goes away in a day or 2 also, because the natural gas delivery systems for the most part also relies on the grid being up.

My 08 Pontiac g6 Scotty talks about, he just doesn't know details IMHO Id take thermostat out of the equation. When I disconnect battery or clear code (with blue driver) everything works perfectly for a while. I have 4. 2volt on suppose to be 5volt reference voltage on my ECT (coolant temp) sensor. That insufficient voltage probably acts like faulty thermostat since it's giving wrong temp. reading on which PCM sets off self protection run (A/C Off, both fans full speed, water gauge off etc) Normally faulty thermostat causes ECT reading out of spec. that sets off that protection run. If I had 5 volt (instead 4. 2) on ECT circuit I'd immediately change the thermostat. I changed ECT sensor for OEM one before I found out about deficient reference voltage with no avail. Im pretty sure I have electrical system fault. Since that 4. 2 volt (instead 5v) checked coming out of PCM as well as on the end of the wire most mechanics would probably call for PCM replacement. What wonders me only is if external bad wiring (short or something) can affect internal 5volt reference voltage regulator sending out of spec voltage. If yes it would be sense to still check external wiring, if not then PCM would be a culprit. Probably only engineer who designed the system could only answer that question however. P0128 full description: Coolant Thermostat (Coolant Temperature Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature. That temp. below spec. can be caused by thermostat but also by faulty ECT sensor (got new, its wiring or insufficient reference voltage (I think) which I have. Thanks all for advice already and possibly for giving me a take on my reasoning above, if someone is acquainted with that.

. actually in a forest fire, if it's really hot and radiant heat abounds then a petrol engine vehicle won't start cos of vapour lock. The trusted performers in high heat conditions are deisel vehicles. Hybrid deisel electric vehicles will probably never happen with the new clean air obsession among regulaters. It's the cleaned up emissions world wide and across all emitters that has helped create the conditions we now have for fire hazard. A dirtier atmosphere would not have heated up so much in last 35 years. forget about those cans of gasoline in real life threatening fire situations.

Three points. 1) spray the mounting parts, whether it be nuts, bolts or a single nut on a pipe of the EGR valve with PB Blaster and let it soak in really good. Warm up the engine and removing it will be easier. 2) By 2009 the plug issue with the Ford modular engines was fixed. I believe it had to do with up to and including 2004 years, mostly 5. 4, not the 4. 6. 3) What's the difference keeping your gasoline car, or electric car topped up? Why would anyone not do this, just for such situations and what if the gas station power is down, too?

Regarding the 4. 6 Ford blowing out the spark plugs, just torque them a little tighter than what is specified by factory. I never had a problem and neither have millions of others. Most of the blow outs are from people not torquing them correctly. The reason for torquing them just a little tighter than factory recommended specs is to ensure they're especially seated, but you can just do it to factory spec if you want. Also, this might be obvious, but don't use lube or anything else, just torque the spark plugs in.

I just changed the EGR on a blazer 95, it was creating a lot of problems. It was stock open, first the engine start to run very rich, thanks to that the transmission shifted very rough, but the things started to get dangerous when the brake booster started to work almost nothing, cause there was not enough vacuum on the engine to power the system. I changed it this Sunday and instantly all the problems solved. I recommend to change it if you notice some problems

Electric cars would be far better if they not only had bodies that were one large solar cell, but also has a small diesel engine that acted as a battery charger. It would not need to be large enough to propel the vehicle, just automatically recarge the battery bank as needed during the trip. This motor could also be run off bio diesel and have a large enough fuel tank that the vehicle could make it 1000 miles or more before needing refilling. What am I missing?

Beer is Happiness received his own picture 2: 22 How did Scotty know his favorite is Corona? Both cats are in today, so I feel relaxed I think that because California is experiencing Politically Driven Blackouts all electric vehicles should be quarantined during all the blackouts. An electric vehicle could short-out and start a fire just like their power lines Better to be safe in California

It's not up to the electric car companies or the government to think of all these things before they make them, in regards to wild fires and cutting city electricity off. It's up to you to have a backup solution. May I recommend having an old Celica or Civic on tap for emergencies, kind of like how folks have gas generators as backup to their potential electricity issues.

Scotty, I love your videos but on the electric vehicles conundrum you remind me of my great grandpa(I'm 74) and he was on record as saying that these new fangled monstrosities would never replace the good old horse and cart. Get woth the times my friend there are aalready recharging stations in the middle of Alberta Canada and Europe has thousands of them.
