GENERAL LEE 01 #YEEHAW!!!!!!
I got a 98 grand prix gt with 355, 513 miles and the 3. 8 v6 in much worse shape then that. My mom bought it brand new in 98. Most of the paint has come off all the trim on the bottom of the doors has fell off only the driver door window works and my mom blew out all the speakers so you cant listen to the radio. The blower motor doesnt work the dash is all busted the horn and door locks dont work and the valve cover gaskets leak oil ( it has had a recall on it since ot was new for the valve cover gaskets but my parents never had it fixed ) but even with all those problems I like it I drive it on weekends or to the store since my 95 f150 is a reg cab and I cant put alot of stuff in it. Its also a perfect back up car for when my f150 breaks down on me.

Love the Grand am and the 3400 I had a 99 se (totaled) i now have a 01 and my brother has a 99 grand am se v6. Easy to fix and looks good, ive built a few 3400s (LA1) crappy gaskets from the factory but if you build them with better gaskets especially metal lower intake gaskets these engines will run forever. Only thing I dont like is the 4T45e they put into them but you can always swap in a manual from a G6 or get a conversion kit for a 4T65. I see alot of people selling them for pennies because they dont wanna fix them i bought my 01 for 500 with a bad tranny I swapped in a used one with a 100k and the was 4 years ago still running strong.

I understand Zacry is stuck in the waiting on Insurance to settle and get him paid, but with small kids idk if that is the best long term choice to haul them around in. A beater for your personal daily driver is one thing, but get those kids in a safer vehicle when you can. Please dont leave items loose in your car as they can become weapons of destruction in an accident. All of those loose coins could be big trouble if one of them gets lodged in your kids throat in an accident and you are pinned and unable to help them. Just some food for thought.

That 3. 4 v6 wasnt a bad engine as long as it was cared for. The 2. 2 base engine was pretty good too. For a GM youve got a pretty nice beater. But make no mistake, thats a beater. When I was young I drove a Cutlass Ciera, everything fell apart or straight up didnt work but that slush box 3 speed automatic and its 2. 5 i4 4Tech engine just wouldnt die. It meets the old rusty chevrolet standard. I just thank god thats no longer my budget but, if such was the only option. Sure beats walking Tip: the 3100 or 3800 V6 by the way are nearly bulletproof.

Had a 2002 GA GT coupe fully loaded with the SCT package and still miss the car. It had great steering, nice torquey acceleration, and looked really cool. Just wish the replacement break parts and wheel bearings werent disposable since thats what caused me to get rid of it. Very fun car to drive for how little I paid for it. Wish GM would bring Pontiac back as a 2-door coupe division. The Grand Prix and Bonneville nameplates would still have a lot of value I bet. The G5, 6, 8 series killed the brand (and looked either boring or ugly.

Haha too funny I have a red grand am GT thats just hit 200k miles and that was my first car from age 17 now im 20 and I finally saved up for a 2006 INFINITY G35x and wow i cant believe i thought i was cool driving around in this pontiac lmfao. With a simple chip i have a VQ with AWD that makes 300hp life is better now. And the cars just keep getting nicer the harder you work and the more bank you make. Keep on grinding fellas.

Scotty, heres a question for you about this model of engine. I have a friend who has one that had it stop running. I tested the fuel pressure and it is perfect, and we know that its a fuel problem because it runs as long as you spray starter fluid in it. I dont have any fancy diagnostic tools to check signals to the injectors, but is there an easyish way to check them, or force them to work without pulling off the intake manifold?

I didnt know automatic headlight technology existed back then. I thought is was new technology. It is very convenient, I just set and forget it. So, when I drive through a parking garage or tunnel, or when its getting dark the lights automatically come on. I think this should be required on all cars because some fools drive without lights or just their daytime when it gets dark, not fully light in the morning or in the rain.

My thoughts on the car is it is not safe to drive and should not have been sold. I have been a collision tech for 30 years, it seems that it has a broken clock spring in the steering column from the description given that the controls and horn doesnt work, which means the air bag will not deploy in a frontal collision which could be serious it also probably has an airbag light on. Thats a law suit waiting to happen.
