Here\'s Why GM Really Pisses Me Off inkydoug: That Chevy Biscane, compared to it's modern GM counterpart, was a DRASTICALLY less sophisticated car, got worse fuel mileage, AND had what was then industry standard corrosion protection which was terrible, had zero pollution control, comparatively awful mechanical durability, and would feel really crude and disconnected to drive compared to modern cars. I can understand why a mechanic would gaze back thru time with rosy sunglasses at that car tho, a service manual and basic tools was all you needed to service anything on it, and there wasn't heaps of stuff to dig thru to get to anything either.

Hey, Scotty I got back into cars back when I was a freshman in school, and like many young kids, I liked exotic cars more than anything. Now that I'm almost done with college, I fell in love with cars at the beginning of this year. My 2008 GMC Acadia almost killed me when the wiring shorted out last year and a fire started in the car; it shut off and locked me in while rolling down the road. After months of looking around and comparing used models of cars, I fell in love with the history of the Celica, and I bought a 1990 Celica GT as a project car that I could drive for a while as I polish it and revive its beauty. Your videos are so much help to me as I've never worked on cars until my Celica, and I genuinely have fun listening to your experience and working on my own car

Scotty, I recently purchased a FULLY loaded 2013 Ford F-150 Lariat FX4 supercrew. It has every upgrade possible upgrade like black leather, full tow package, etc. (engine 5. 0 V8) It has ONLY 31000 miles and other than my following concern is in DAMN GOOD condition. My concern? It spent it's life in Vancouver BC being wet. I had a mechanic look at it. He pointed out the exhaust will rust out sooner than normal but the bottom had a previous line-x undercoat. I notice a TEENY TINY amount of rust in two of the four door panels on the very bottom. Should I grind. them down and have them coated?

I just bought a 2009 Honda Civic with AT. It's done 140, 000 km (about 87, 000 miles. The car is in near-mint stock condition inside and out. It has never missed a service interval at the Honda dealership, and the engine oil and transmission fluid have been changed religiously according to the manufacturer's schedule. It's all there on the dealership-stamped service history. Should I put the transmission into N when stopping at traffic lights? I really like this car, so I want the AT to last as long as possible. Any other tips for babying the AT and this car in general are most welcome.

Scotty I need your help My family has a 2005 Toyota Highlander with 385K kilometres, and sometimes when you hit the gas nothing will happen. You could be going any speed and when you hit the gas it wont rev or accelerate, only rumble a bit. This happens randomly, but once its done its rumbling its completely fine. Also, the transmission often shifts roughly, do you have any recommendations on how we can fix this? (We live in Canada so does maybe the cold/road salt have anything to do with this)

Hi Scotty, i like watching your videos and appreciate what you do. Ref this one at 2: 45 mins with the guys auto transmission slipping while turning left at 10 mph, i believe it could be very low on fluid. the fluid sloshes away from the pickup while turning. my daughters car just did that same thing, the mechanic found a bad clamp on the cooler line which is why it was low, and ive also seen trannys act weird when theyre low on fluid. Anyway, keep on keeping on

5 yrs ago I bought what Scotty calls the worst SUV ever made. A 2003 Chevy Blazer. I bought it used with an accident history with 149k miles. I don't even take that great care of it and I live on the coast where rust is a constant problem. I have never had a single mechanical problem with that truck. I've replaced rusty suspension parts, sure, but the automatic tranny and V6 engine have never had any issues. Shrug. Guess I'm just a freak of nature.

Plus their design team is just on break or something. I mean what the flying hell happened to the Blazer? It looks like a Hyundai. I had a 88 Tahoe Blazer. loved it except for the early computer module in it. They also like to put plastic parts near the engine that, whaddya know, melt after some time. when they could've used a 20 cent titanium part. not like this happened to me in a 90s model or anything.

Mid-nineties Chevy trucks were the bomb. Had over 250k on a '92 and currently 150k on a '97. GM should just dig up the old tooling and restart. Then again, the old Datsun, Toyota and Mazda four-bangers were equally great. Nowadays, everyone wants a land crushing, monster truck with 27 cup holders and the electronic gadgetry of the Large Hadron Collider. _That's the Real Problem. _
