5 Cars That Will Last 300, 000 Miles or More Aaron Bradbury: My brother in law, me and my dad each have 2 jeeps (85-2001) models. (All sport Cherokees and a wrangler) Every single one has hit 300K or is very close. Never really had major issues, most of our issues come from taking the jeeps off-roading. (My biggest was crushing my exhaust when laying flat while climbing over a hill) We each use our jeeps as daily drivers. Some of the cheapest year round cars you can get, parts are cheap and the Jeep is extremely easy to work on. Gas mileage isnt bad either (17-19 mpg city around 23-25highway) I wouldnt recommend the new jeeps, but if you live north, and want a reliable 4w drive vehicle, a Jeep Cherokee sport from the 90s is the way to go. Out of 5 jeeps (excluding the wrangler) We have spent close to 5000-6000And maintaining them has mostly been fluids/breaks and tires.

You didnt mention the i6 in the f150. Also I know alot of the older AMC designed i6 engines got over 300k. My father has a f150 with 725k miles with the 4. 9 i6 standard transmission. He has had a spare engine for it for 15 years and never had to replace it. Hell, he had to replace the manual transmission before he had to replace the clutch He replaced the clutch and pilot bearing since he had it apart anyways. But he actually just this week has retired that truck for a same generation 1995 7. 3 with a standard. Now Ill be driving the old clapped f150 just because I want to see it hit 1, 000, 000. Although sadly his odometer doesnt read anything higher than 399, 999 then it goes back to 300, 000. Its quite disappointing. I guess it has out lived Fords expectations. Lol

I dont know about the 300k list if had 29 vehicles from an 82 bronco with the straight 6 300 to what I have now a 13 ram 2500 diesel and also 2 99 ram diesels Ford escorts Pontiac grand am alot of them will make it to 300k my trucks and cars including wifes vehicles have a strict maintenance schedule not saying I had every one at 300k but I know 3 of them made it with original motor and trans that kinda hate these lists not just by you but everyone that does them just because a car can last along time if properly maintained and cared for like my diesels always get warm up and cool down time oil change every 8 trans fluid every 30k Im OCD freak on my cars but they all last 99 ram had 358k on original trans but anyways keep up the good videos

Love your videos, lotsa great info. BUTI gotta bone to pick with you on the Dodge Ram pickups you say to stay away from. I own a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 QC with the 4. 7 Semi-Hemi which I just past 244, 000 miles and its going strong. Only replaced the water pump when I needed a new Plastic-yuk radiator)It was a program vehicle with 20, 000 on it when we got it in June 2005. I have only use Mobil 1 full synthetic since about at the 45, 000 mile mark. and I swear by it (even use it in my 128, 000 Mustang GT) If it works stick with it. There are 3 other guys I work with that own doges too. One with almost 295, 000 and the other two have 200, 000 Plus on theirs. But keep up the great videos H-

My 2006 Honda Element has 163, 000 miles on it. It still has the original starter. water pump. and fuel pump. I wonder how much longer they will last? I dont want to get stranded, but dont want to replace if they still have a lot of life in them. The engine and transmission (5 sp manual) still run like new. I did replace the clutch at 100k miles because of city driving. The AWD system works perfectly. Its noisy (road noise) and has a bumpy ride, but purrs like a kitten. I always use full synthetic oil and change every 20, 000 miles IT BURNS NO OIL.

Im not sure I agree with the whole it costs more to repair my car than it is worth in a lot of cases. So, I look at it like this. Say I pay 3k to put a new engine in my 2005 subaru legacy thats worth about the same amount. Well, If I decide to get another car instead of putting an engine in mine. Thats what. 10-20K for a decent used one. I could put 3 engines in my car for the same price of one used car. Thats a lot of months or years of car payments I am avoiding by replacing my engine. How can you justify a new car?

Miss my 2001 mercury grand marquis. Bought it at 18 for 3200 with 50k miles that was garaged and paint looked brand new. Put 70k miles on the car and sold it at 22 and bought a 2016 Camry Hybrid since I had to commute 50 miles into NYC. I would of kept the car if it was easier to park and got better gas mileage. That car was a tank though and I never worried about hitting potholes since it would be barely felt in the cabin. My Toyota on the other hand I need to be careful and go through bushings like crazy

Toyota Corolla/Camry, Honda Civic even when it comes down to replacing the engine/transmission you can get a practically brand new JDM K20A with a 6 speed transmission, ECU, wiring harness, intake/exhaust manifold etc. Pulled from running cars in Japan with 45k miles or less all for 3-5k. Far cheaper than buying a brand new car. With proper maintanence a DIY guy could maintain a Toyota or a Honda pretty much forever.

Its so funny. Im not a car expert by a long shot but Ive always had gut feelings about certain cars trucks and companies overall. Scotty bears these thoughts out as truth. I would never by ANY Chrysler product. I would only by one American vehicle and thats a Ford Truck. I had a 1999 Mazda 626 that blew through 2 automatic transmissions before 200, 000 miles. I have a 2007 Honda Fit with 281, 000 miles, manual transmission.
