Heres Why the 2011 Ford F-150 was Worth 48, 000 Robert Smith: My Grandpa gave my Dad his old truck since he cant drive anymore. I do all the maintenance and drive it most of the time since my Dad already has a nice truck and prefers it. Its an early 90s square body XL (regular cab, long bed, roll up windows, power nothing) its got the most reliable Powertrain Ford has ever put in a vehicle. Its a 300 straight 6 with a 5 speed manual and because its a Grandpa truck its only got 48, 000 miles. I miss trucks like this so much. Just a very simple, reliable truck thats easy and cheap to work on. Itll be mine someday so I take care of it like it already is. I know they dont make as much money on simple vehicles so well probably never see another F150 like that again. I think Grandpa told me he paid in the 8000 range brand new off the dealer lot. Its a shame that all the truck makers have done away with manual transmissions. Also, looking back it seems like the 1990s were a high mark for reliability for both domestics and imports. Our work truck back then was a 1992 Ram 3500 Extended cab. We got the Cummins 5. 9 with a 5 speed manual. We ran a 36 gooseneck with that truck and it pulled it no problem. Just to compare with newer Ton trucks we bought the Dodge brand new and it was 21, 500 off the dealer lot, and that truck wasnt stripped by any means. All we ever had to do was change the oil with Shell Rotella T 15w40 every 7500 miles and we made it to 500, 000 miles before we sold it. I have no doubt the F150 will go 500, 000 miles as Ive heard nothing but good things about the 300 straight 6. I even think the 90s F150 look better than the new ones. Im an old school kinda guy and believe a truck should be simple and not have all those tech features, its just another expensive thing to break. I mean is it really that hard to roll the windows up and down?

You do have a great looking truck, love its still V8 like the wheels as with you and love all the blue gauge indicators in the dash, Ill bet it kind of gives a cool blue glow at night. I used to have a 1980 Ford two tone blue and white, first year independent suspension front diff. four wheel drive pickup. I took the dome light out of my wrecked 1970 Camaro and mounted up in the top of my glove box with a piece of blue spot light lens material and put it under the cover of it. You could drive around with the glove box open and it glowed blue all through the cab at night and made it along with all the other stuff I did to into a really cool truck. They didnt come with all the stuff they have now days. You had to do stuff yourself back then.

Any engine is going to extract more power with cold air intake. It will run more efficiently. It may not get the massive boost you might get with a turbo or supercharger but your engine will run more efficient with a little more power. If its worth doing the exhaust its worth doing the cold air.

What I dont care too much for with the Ford F150s is the way the floorboard seems to be higher than other pickups. Of course, I believe the NHTSA rated it the highest for safety with respect to knee / lower leg entrapment in a front fender collision. But, for ergonomics I prefer the Tundra.

Why is it that I see tons of videos with titles like these why the mustang gt cost 40k or why the whatever then I go and search that make, model and year of vehicle and the video title is wrong. You can get a brand new F-150 for 40k 8k less than what this video title claims.

I just dont get some people like even he said V6: faster, more power, better gas mileage V8: good sound Conclusion: V8 is better Like I know there is more to it than that but really when it comes to the raw performance I dont get why someone would pick sound over speed

I shouldve bought about 4 Chevy S10s back in the early 90s and kept them in storage somewhere. New Vehicles are becoming upper class luxury items. Bad part is the used market is going become a dumping ground for expensive to maintain vehicles full of dead, unsupported tech.
