Driving Like This Will Destroy Your Car 4G12: Electric fuel pump inside the fuel tank makes a lot of sense because the fuel not only lubricates the pump, it also provides pressure to minimise the chance cavitation, minimizing the risk of detonating the engine due to unexpected lean out. As for the fuel filter inside the tank, that is asinine. My car is has electronic port injected petrol engine with the typical in fuel tank fuel pump, but the fuel filter is somewhere in line with the fuel line on its way from the fuel tank to the fuel rail. The fuel filter is quite cheap and easy to change as long as you can safely lift and suspend the car off the ground. The recommended change interval is once every 20, 000km.

i was really hoping youd be like the god kung fu but for cars people look for days on end in the deserts of texas and they find a shack and good ol scotty will lead the way on in order to fix the machine you have to be the machine and you pass on your wisdom of cars to the next guy like giving your supercharged wisdom sword to the next guy but sadly and well hapilly you might be the last of these good mechanics and well just have to appreciate it to death riding the diesel head and petrol head game until it dies the last go i honestly think i was born in the perfect era

I wish I had a mechanic like Scotty. The guy has more than 50 years worth of fixing cars. But alongside experience he is honest. That is primarily the reason why he is popular. He speaks the truth regardless. Many people say that he had been paid off by Toyota or Honda to say only good things about their cars, but they are actually much more reliable vehicles than your average Hyundai, Kia, Chrysler, etc. People want evidence? Simple. Look around the streets these days, people are still driving around in old Hondas and Toyotas because they dont break down.

My experiene with having a 2nd vehicle that sat for sometimes weeks at a time, bran new Nitto Terra Grapplers dry-rotted after 5 years to the point I had 2 POP in one day a few hours apart They had less than 10, 000 miles on them and when they went they literally blew the sidewalls out. The first was the rear, the second was in the front and wow that one scared the crap out of me. Wasnt till the Sierra got home on the flatbed that I looked the tires over and realized they were rotted.

I remember once, some years ago going to the Chevy website and playing with the pre-purchase vehicle configuration tool. I chose a super basic, no-frills, S10 truck: 4 cylinder, manual trans, vinyl bench seat, AM/FM radio. basically declining any option that would raise the price. When all was said and done, the site recommended I buy a similar Nissan truck, as it would cost about 4K less than the S10.

Scotty, I was disabled for a few years and my car has just been sitting unused for two years. I am about ready to start driving again, what should I have a mechanic do to my car before I start it up and start driving it again? Its a 2006 Impala with about 70 k miles that used to run great. Please advise if you can. I would appreciate any advice from anyone knowledgeable.

Im not sure if I beseeched (asked) you this already and I apologize in advance if I have. My speedometer needle is acting up. If Im driving along doing the posted speed limit, my speedometer needle on my 1989 Pontiac 6000 LE goes jumps around. As a car girl I know some car stuff and thought maybe the speedometer cable was corroded or something. Whats your opinion?

Hi Scotty. Thank you kindly helping us learning about cars, I have a question for you: me and my wife bought the the new 2019 Toyota rav4 and the 2019 Toyota Corolla, I noticed that theres a big difference in the steering wheel where on the corolla quite stiff and the quite effortless is tht normal or could it a defect in ether one of the cars?

Hey I got a question. I have a 2000 Cadiliac deville Dhs. I replaced the fuel pump and the starter and replaced the radiator. But when I start my car it will shake. Then cut off. But after I restart the car. It starts right up and drives fine. What is going on. And it also tells me. Service electrical system.

I was curious about the fuel filter thing. Brought my dads 2012 Santa Fe to local Hyundai dealer and asked if we needed to change the fuel filter since it was at 135000 km and was never changed and the advisor said no, since theyre in the fuel tank they should last the lifetime of the vehicle.
