I agree most cars makers do have great engines. But when you want to have total reliability Toyota/Lexus, Honda/Acura, Mazda and Hyundai/Kia are the best when you dont have to spend a lot I had a 2003 Acura TL Type-S with a 140, 000 miles before I totaled it about 4 years ago and it was still running strong. The transmission was the only thing that was a problem but once I replace that I was good. My sister got a 1998 Lexus ES 300 almost 200, 000 miles with minor problems and it still runs great.

Well the powerstrokes post 7. 3 dont have a good track record for reliability or longetivity. A youtuber named powerstokehelp has apparently made a fortune off fixing that Ford garbage. My employers 2015 powerstroke 6. 7 service truck has just come out the Ford shop for the 6th time- this time for a massive oil leak. The truck only has 53, 000 miles on it. The Duramaxx is from Isuzu motors and has a great track record thus far. You cant ever go wrong with a Cummins in any application.

Their reliable till years 5 thereafter. Our ML350 trans would stay in 7th gear as you came to a red light then would kill the engine. It also on take off stay in 2nd gear. That creates a serious problem when pulling out into traffic going 50mph. That trans was in cars as well 2003-2009. Numerous law suits filed as people got killed over it. MB never did a recall and the shops answer is new trans needed. Great cars if you can afford to buy one new and get a new one every three years.

Absolutes are pretty easy to dispel. I have a 99 ML320 that I purchased in 1999 with 3k. 198k on odometer. Wife drives a GLC300. Zero issues through 30k other than squeaky brakes. Fixed under warranty with new pads. You slam as moneypits, but that has NOT been my experience. I change my own oil and filter. Your Japanese love is working for you. I have owned Hondas and Toyotas. They are good cars, but the Mercs are great cars. (In my personal experience. YMMV.

I have fixed two Avalons with squeaky steering wheels by applying spray lithium grease to the steering column where it goes through the fire wall under the dash. Originally I thought the squeak was coming from the steering wheel. I sprayed WD40 and LPS-1 all around the steering wheel - no luck. After spraying the grease to the fire wall work it in with your fingers. One of the Avalons required two applications but this fixed both.

I own a 2009 Hyundai Sonata with 245, 000 miles on it. To date the largest repair I have done is replace the front struts. I did have to replace the A/C compressor but that was because it had been submerged in salt water due to Hurricane Sandy. The car runs great and I have no plan to replace it soon. The only reason I will not buy another one is because Hyundai does not offer them any more with a manual transmission.

2012 E 350 4 matic 140 k no issues just tires battery brakes and oil changes. the repair story is way over done and I know why its usually by people who forget regular service I know the service managers and its incredible what people do to a Mercedes and expect zero issues the customer attitude is well I should not have to do anything to it ( service intervals )

We disagree about Corvairs, Scotty. I had a 1960 Corvair, and I wouldnt recommend them to anyone, especially those living in a cool/cold climate. Since theyre air cooled, their heater generally suck. Some generated heat buy burning gasoline, That should stand out as an obvious danger. All in all, they were crappy cars best avoided.

Lexus is no more than a glorified Toyota. Charging a customer 50% more on the sticker price. Go figure. Ive had Mercedes BMW, and Porsches, all German thoroughbred, they require minimum maintenance and. who can beat that driving sensation Reliability? A refrigerator is reliable. Who wants to be driving a characterless Toyota?
