Hey. I had a 2012 Chevy Cruze with the 1. 4L. It did well for me. I never had a problem with the car for over 70k miles. I drove the crap out of it too. Sadly the vavle cover gasket went bad. So i bought another one. A couple weeks later that one went bad by busting in the corner. So i bought another one. Went good for a couple months then a seal busted and started leaking oil onto the header. So after driving like that for 2 months, no CEL. I got rid of it finally and got another car. Point being, I bought a chevy cruze used with 66k miles. Put 70k+ on it for the 4 years I had it. So not all are bad. Mine just kept having the same problem cause by a different issue each time.

104k miles with my Sonic so far (same automatic transmission as Cruze) and Im still waiting for the transmission to need to be replaced, unliked the 5 people I met who actually had their Ford Focus transmission replaced before 60k miles. Interesting how Ford is actually in legal trouble with their transmissions in the Focus/Fiesta, while Ive heard nothing legally about the Sonic/Cruze or even from other owners about the transmission. Everything MINUS THIS, I agree with you on, Scotty. Ill let you know when my transmission blows up, though, on my Sonic. 07 Highlander is still going strong, minus an Evap Canister replacement at 158k miles.

Scotty, I have been around Japanese motorcycles as well as cars most all my life. What I have just learned since the 50s the Japanese have not used Phillips screws. After working on motorcycles back in the early 70s and always stripping the heads out, thinking it was junk pot meter that the screws were made out of. Check this out J. I. S. = Japanese Industrial Standard. They look just like Phillips, but have a less aggressive angle. This would have saved me a lot of money, had I known about it back in the 70s.

Toyota Camrys are overrated truly. They arent best in crash tests. Thin metal. No way u get over 250k+ mis unless very well maintained. I experienced a leaking head gasket at 98k mis on 07 Camry. Never again 2014 Fusion Titanium AWD - 167k mis currently. Zero issues. good consistant basic maintenance by local dealer. Our 2nd Fusion & Im sold. Next for us a 19 Lincoln or Ford SUV. Scotty recommends Fords or Toyotas regularly. Its Fords for us.

Hey Scotty, what do you think of steering assist and lane departure warning systems? Sometimes you just need to be on that line and these systems dont seem to recognize how far over is over. I got K-rails on my left and a semi on my right, leaning heavy in my lane on a turn and this farthead system wants to throw me into the truck over me riding the line. I shut that crap right the Hell off. Thanks Scotty, your advice is always appreciated.

Hold it there Okay, at 5: 53 in regards to a power steering pump, youre advice Scotty is to avoid AutoZone. of which you always recommend, right before you said to AVOID AutoZone, I was thinking. AutoZone. cheap junk. okay, but then you recommend cheap Chinese knockoff? Oh, I see, not a REBUILT AutoZone part, but a NEW cheap Chinese knockoff. Im just trying to make sense of that, maybe its me. Of course Scotty, we love ya

when a business buys a batch of cars. they can buy fleet vehicles. they are base models and even normally standard equipped features are not put in. corners are cut to make even cheaper (panel gaps are not straight, interior slapped together, less sound deadening) anything and everything to make them cheaper. its a fleet car, who cares? have you ever noticed rental cars/ company vehicles ride and feel much different?

Your right Ford is famous for the noisy power steering. Mine was whining so loud you could here it from 100 yards when it was low on A. T. F. Now they recommend the latest Mercon A. T. F. instead of Mercon 3. Best to use a turkey baster and suck as much fluid out of the reservoir and refill with fresh fluid once a year instead of doing a full flush. One ounce of MotorKote will quiet it down nicely.

I have a 2002 Camry 2. 4G with 199, 000km on it. Its had a starter replacement, and valve cover seal replacement. that is ALL thats been done to it repair-wise since new. It runs and drives much better (or on par) with many many much newer cars with way less kilometres on them. I will never ever buy anything other than a Camry now - but I love mine and Im sure it has many many more years left in her.
