Scotty: I have a 2016 Toyota Camry with a 4- cylinder engine, and its only getting about 16mpg. The car is a certified pre-owned vehicle through the Toyota dealership. I recently purchased some premium BFGoodrich touring tires that are all filled to the factory recommend PSI. I also purchased a lifetime alignment package and had quality, synthetic lube put in the engine. What I don't understand is that I used to have a 2006 Lexus IS that had two additional cylinders (6-cylinders total) and that car got 32mpg, even with the extra cylinder volume. any ideas?

Scotty, Your Popemobile was my first car in 1964. It was a 1957 e100 flathead four. I bought it for 100, rebuilt the motor, painted it Corvette Metal Flake Burgundy, jacked up the front suspension, put bigger rear tires on, put a Buick tube type radio in the glove box sitting on a sponge and put in Air Force jet surplus seatbelts. It was a fun little car in those days living in a small town. Glad that the interstate highways were not completed in my area then. The old professor

Hey Scotty. I've been car shopping, specifically for a used toyota over 5000. My 2004 corolla is over 200k miles, so I'm looking for something that's less worn down so I'm not as landlocked. I'm noticing that when comparing comparable Camrys and Corollas, the price discrepancy is opposite to what I thought it would be. Cars similar to mine often outsell newer, less used Camrys by over a thousand dollars. Is there a reason used Corollas are worth more than the luxury option?

Scotty, do you remember the days when people still had decent paying jobs in the 70s and 80s? We bought new junk domestics about every three years after the warranty expired. Notice now we are driving 20 year old Honda's and Toyota's with 300k and recieve terrible wages. Wouldn't it be better to drive new domestic junk cars we don't have to work on, versus 20 year old 300k Toyotas and Honda's?

So, Scotty's advice is: if your tranny fluid is nice and clean changing it every so often is fine. If it's dark and grungy, leave it in and just top it off when necessary. So, why doesn't somebody make small bottles of grungy fluid that will keep the level of suspended clutch material high? There's a niche waiting to be filled.

Scotty, I have a 1995 Camaro z28. It has the OD2 out let for reading computer codes. The 1995 was the last generation of OD1 computer read out. How can I get the error codes from this car. Autozones, discount auto and the rest of them have a reader with the 0D2 connection which starts in 1996 and will not read my codes.

Your opinion on the ongoing issue with lifter needle bearings in ram 5. 7 hemis. we all know you pretty much hate chrysler fiat. Is this a mnfctr quality control issue, is it a metallurgical issue, is it a 5w 20? Lite weight oil issue. or is it just some italians should just stick to growing olives and making pasta.

Good thing you havent worked on my 2015 VW Passat TDI, because itd probably be the most expensive car you ever worked on with the amount of money VW and me have put into it. Recent repair bad heater core replacement and then two weeks later engine coolant sensor.
