I grew up in my father's body shop working their in the summer I eventually ran it for him for 4 years. So your rights are you can take your car to what ever body shop you want. You do not need to get 20 estimates for the insurance company. If you decide to ask statefarm for a check they will indeed just give you a small portion of the money. But they do owe you the money which is funny. So here is another thing, you should get the car repaired. The thing is that their might be problems under the bumper that cannot be seen and thus may make more problems later and cost you way more. Just take your car to a place of your choice. Statefarm has to provide a rental car of comparable features and quality to your current car. If you have any questions feel free to email me.

I have state farm and they are great with automotive repairs. I have had 3 incidents in my FRS since I purchased it. Two not at fault and neither were insured, and one raccoon. Take it to a State Farm certified repair shop and state farm will cut them a check minus the deductible you currently have. After that once the other parties insurance pays they will send you a refund on your deductible. Seeing as the other party has State Farm you may not be anything out of pocket up front and not have to worry about a refund. The hood release has also failed on my MR2. I got an estimate like you did and state farm matched it minus my deductible. I then went out and purchased all parts second hand and put them on my car pocketing the rest.

My Audi got once lightly rear-ended in traffic lights. Went to dealership to get a price tag for repair. They gave me an estimate of 1200, and the damage was really just a hologram from a registry plate of the other car. Insurance company gave me 2 options: A) the dealership would repair it and charge the insurance company directly, or B) Insurance company would simply pay me 75% of the estimated repair costs and I then would deal with the damage myself however I want. So I went with option B, took 900 in cash and just got the rear bumper re-sprayed in local paint shop for 200. Was happy with it, kept the rest for myself and just sold the car shortly after that. :)

Too much l can tell just from the Volkswagon Make of vehicle & Worse the Audi make is basically a Simple Glorified Volkswagon Rabbit, beetle, Golf, etc, etc. & All that was Replaced Was A Simple All encompasing Plastic Bumper Cover & Boring Flat Black Plastic grill, my guess is a five Grand estimate. l'm a little high, but 2300. 00 fix is mostly labour & bellegerent Shop fees. take the cash Gallaman & DIY repair if you think you got the guts take replace a simple bumper cover.

That stinks about the wrap. As far as State Farm is concerned if you have two estimates that are close in cost as long as the cost to repair is not more than the value of the car they should send you a check for the full amount of the repair. If they decide to cut a check for a way lower amount you can appeal to them or file a Consumer Complaint with the Department of Insurance with your state.

So it's only worth 4k, can you find another car in similar shape (minus damage) for 4k? So you could get check for 2300 and sell for 1700. If you are happy with car, and plan/planned to keep a couple years, take it to their shop and let them fix it. I took a car to an insurance approved shop after a deer hit. Happy with repairs, but I really hated the car, so I got rid of it 6 months later.

5: 32 that's a good info for people who haven't been through an accident before My first accident someone rear ended me, I went with the State Farm recommended repair shops, maybe should have went for the check and try to repair it myself, did not know this was an option, until I read the comment section. I am also curious if you do take the check how much would you actually get.

Hey Stradman, as others have said take the money from the insurance source a second hand bumper and grill or maybe some pattern parts and get it sprayed up. The bonnet or hood as you call it can probably be repaired by PDR. All in should be less then 1000. As for the Lambo take the ugly wrap off and expose that beautiful lambo orange paintwork. Problem solved
