Today's trip is somewhat special. It's not often that a freight train enters a terminus station, especially with half a million litres of ethanol. The alternative route (which we will be taking to Basel) however, does not allow trains over 1100 metric tons, likely due to it's inclines and older infrastructure. The trip started in Basel, following the main line to Olten and Lucerne, where the train needs to change directions to reach it's destination, Schachen. Alternatively, a direction change can be made in Gtsch, is however unfeesable due to high traffic. The change in direction requires a locomotive at each end of the train. In Schachen, the train is delivered and the locomotives continue back to Basel along a less frequently used line via Wolhusen and Langenthal

Very nice video, Lorirocks. Enjoyed the first hour's single-track operations with passing sidings at the stations permitting meets with oncoming traffic. Absolutely loved the close quarters when running through the suburban backyards in these same towns. One question: any idea as to the purpose of the stone-and-earthen berm on the left at 0: 27: 50? Seems a bit unusual to me that someone was concerned with erecting a barrier along the railway's right-of-way at this point given the openness found everywhere else. Thanks again for another fine presentation.

Line that crosses small inhabited centers with annexed industrial connections at least as far as Langenthal.
After we have the interconnection with the Basel line that can be seen in other videos, very characteristic is congratulations for the video with greetings from GIO402b

wonderful trip again. Am I right in saying that there is a heritage train depot at Sissach? I was sure I saw Wagon Lits and a Mitropa restaurant car on the left as the train went down the incline.

I love your videos but I can't understand why you don't use your headlights in the tunnels? I know you don't see anything but it is still good to know what's going on in the tunnels.

So there is a second disconnected locomotive at the buffers of this freighttrain? Was it not possible to avoid this station? Apperently not!

I do like this one but it reminds us that November is only just over 3 months away so Autumn is just around the corner!
