An amazing site I thought I'd never get to see. My trip to New Delhi and Agra was in March 1971; from my recollection it seemed there were fewer people at the Taj and everything was I'm sure less expensive back then. Four of us hired a car and driver to take us from New Delhi to Agra; with a case of soda it cost us only $32US! The driver stopped along the way for us to get an elephant ride and witness cobra snake charmers! He took us directly to the Taj for a sunset viewing, then to our hotel, the Cook's Hotel. We got a before sunrise wake-up call, a light breakfast, then our driver (who slept in his car) drove us over to the Taj to witness a glorious pink sunrise. I was able to get some color shots outside and then the actual tombs inside (I don't recall if we were allowed, but I got a few. Never got to the Red Fort. I did purchase in New Delhi a white cotton top and draw string pants for a few dollars; a pair of water buffalo skin sandals, and a small round hand-carved wooden table with a tri-fold detachable base (I still have. I was taken aback by the abject poverty and the cows wandering the streets, but loved the hospitality of the people and the spicy food!

Excellent video! Terrific detailed images and information. Thanks for including the written descriptions. I have no desire to visit there on my own.
