That looks like you started higher in the mountains and went down, not up. The reason I say that is because there's a cable in the track until you reach the halfway point, then it branches to the passing car, then vanishes after the car passes.
It looks like the cars are winched from the high point by a cable which starts at one car and goes up the track to the winch then down to the other car. Am I correct or am I missing something obvious?

The ride on the Funicular railway went through some very eerie, spooky landscape. The spooky atmosphere added to by the overcast weather. As for the Gondola rides, and where your ride ended, you must have a bloody good head for heights, Tim! LOL

Fascinating. I live about 5 km from a peak that is a good 100m higher than that, but the scenery looks absolutely nothing like that!
