Having enjoyed a ride behind the world-s longest serving steam locomotive GKB No. 671 and an excellent traditional lunch in K-flach we return to the station to find our train watered and ready to return to Graz. Once again the crew kindly allowed me to place a camera on their engine to record a view not normally available to passengers. aimdrummer: Love this. I have various family members living in the area between Koppling and Lieboch, this reminds me of childhood summer holidays when I used to go and stay with them. I used to wander down the lane from my Auntie's house and kick around by the crossing at 29: 28 watching the trains go by. They used to use the Uerdingen railbus VT units along there, you could hear them miles away! They really were just a bus on rail wheels.

Rode her cab (-footplate-) for part of a special excursion sponsored by the Loco Club of Great Britain in September 1984. good to see the old 'un is still active 35 years later! With the Herr Lokfuhrer's permission, I sounded an American grade-crossing signal (two long blasts, one short, one long) on her whistle during a photo runby. Wonder if she remembers.

Tim do you have a Christmas train video. Just wondering. You see i love The northern hemisphere Christmas.
People go on about Christmas on the beach and barbies(bbqs. But there's something special about a Northern Christmas. No fun getting sand in eyes and swimwear. Or sunburn.
Many recent Christmasses are rained out these days

. the trees of the forest, its glade. and hills timely echo back the melody of the engine's steam chimes.
- the walls of the right-of-way, its shed, and sills timely echo back the moods of the local kid's in paint-can rhymes.

Hi tim, fantastic ride, i wish we were back in the steam era they were wonderful years, austria would have one of the best rail networks in the world up there with switzerland and the netherlands, cheer's bob.

I really appreciate that you don't narrate your videos. Just sit back, relax, watch the view from the front, and listen. Chunka chunka chunka. Thank you for another great video!

Another cracking Video. I was surprised by the smoothness of the ride and loved the -Galloping Stallion- on the left hand side at 26 / 27 mins. Once again thanks for sharing.

All together now. and a 1, and a 2, and a 3.
The old loco, she's humming along,
Perhaps 'cause she doesn't know the words to the song! LOL

reply

Hi Tim I want one! It sings a lovely song and is a very happy little charmer. Thanks for all your efforts all the best to you from me in Aus.

It is amazing that some of the very early locos survived because of the fast development of equipment during the early years say 1830 to 1880.
reply

All jokes aside, that was a great video. Interesting also that the loco survived through two horrendous world wars and came out unscathed.
reply

amazing when you take the basic steam engine just how many different models evolved around the world all doing basically the same thing.

18: 30 This, and other instances, the old loco sounds like she's snorting like a pig. Could she be -hamming- it up for your camera? LOL
reply

This old locomotive at speed sounds a lot like the geared steam locomotives used by lumber railroads in the USA for many years.
