A visit to the Semmering Railway is much more than a train ride along a beautiful, historically important UNESCO recognized alpine route. The opportunity to cover the line whilst it is still an important, busy, trunk line in a train old enough to have opening windows will soon pass, when the new base tunnel opens and all trains will be comfortable, air conditioned bubbles fitted with glazing that challenges even the most competent photographer to achieve a decent result. For anyone considering making this trip, now is the time to do it. At M-rzzuschlag there is a fascinating railway museum covering the history of Austria-s Southern Railway along with a viewing tower that currently offers excellent views of the station and Tunnel construction site. It is also worth visiting Semmering station with its small exhibition, plinthed -BB 5144 001-4 Motorkocsi Rail car and plenty of action on the main line. Payerbach-Reichenau Station has a small outdoor historic display including former steam banking locomotive -BB 95. 112. A short walk from the station is the H-llentalbahn, a quaint narrow gauge (760 mm) electric railway, running from the (-BB) station for approximately five kilometres through the market town of Reichenau an der Rax to Hirschwang. The tour was organised by the Railway Touring Company

Hi Tim was at Payerbach and listening to the bird calls all of a sudden I heard a Kookaburra.
I though a Kookaburra there now that's interesting and suddenly realised it was outside my window.
Bloody weather is nuts over here. One day it's 40c next day I wake up and its 10c. Thanks mate. Happy Blue Beer. Larfin!

Hello Tim! Always nice when you see the pictures of the Semmering Railway. I was there on a steam train 35 years ago. This route is unique. A challenge to build at the time. I wrote you something about it in the last video. Greetings Hans. --

I have a velocipede like the one - 26: 32. I also have a regular handcar and a small Fairmont B-4 motor car used by a signal maintainer.

A great viewing. Beautifully shot, and skilfully edited. I was surprised to see left-hand running. Thanks, Tim.
