Thank you for this video, it's the first time I see with a better quality something I forever wanted to see at this train, the service car hallway, that is. I know they are different because they are made in the UK for European railroads and they did it differently, the lights are a bit off, not on the middle, and the windows have a different wood configuration around them. I hope you know you are extremely lucky to be on board this history marvel in Art Deco style that works and earns money, part of the European values and heritage, the symbol of freedom to travel and individual freedom to travel, work and speak that is the Venice Simplon Orient Express. I cannot wait to get on board it once again, when it passes my home city, Bucharest. Also I've seen you've perfected your English, if you remember some time ago, 9 or 12 months ago, there was a guy here calling you a total noob and yelling at you to perfect your English, I've seen you worked on that, congrats. Other than that, try next time to pay attention to the microphone so we won t hear your breath. It' s not unpleasant but it's unprofessional.

In May 2017 we went on a special trip to Venice, train both ways, Euro Star to Paris, TGV to Turin, overnight in Turin and onward to Venice. Three perfect days in Venice, but to top it all off, the we had the pleasure of travelling on the Orient Express from Venice to Calais/London, trip of a life time, carriages were spotless, food was fantastic and the service was superb. Our attendant was the candle on top of the cake. Great Video

In your video you say there is 16 carriages, but then you say 5 sleeping cars on one side of the service car and dinning cars and bar car then service car and six sleeping cars on the other making side making 17 cars, when i was on it there were 18 carriages, 6 sleeping cars each end, 2 service cars (one either side of dining and bar cars, 3 dining cars, the marquetry, Lalique, and black Japan Lacqure then the bar car.

Breathtaking. art deco and a train. What more could you ask? Polished wood paneling - check, gold covered everything - check, real chairs and couches - check, a baby grand piano in the bar car - check, service unmatched by any other mode of transportation - check, and a toilet fit for the queen - check. No wonder I can't afford it. Thanks for showing me how the other half lives. truly incredible.

I think the main visible defect is the white color of the ceilings. I couldn't believe that when I saw it in the video. This reminded me to the royal train of Italian king, built in the beginning of XX century which cars had very beuteful and decorated ceilings. Therefore I do not understand why this is missing in the VSOE. For the rest is obviously a wonderful train set.

I used to have a model of the VSOE train. but only ten coaches. including three sleeping cars, some Pullman cars and a service coach. It looked very impressive pulled buy a German steam engine or a Swiss electric locomotive. When I stopped it at one of the stations it looked a grand sight!

I rode on The Orient Express from Paris to Berlin a couple of years ago. It was the single greatest travel experience of my life! To any true travel enthusiast - Yes! It's worth it! It certainly isn't cheap BUT the experience and memories will last a LIFETIME.

Terrific way to tour the train, when it's stopped -cold-. Felt like Cheryl Ladd might come around the corner, at any moment! Ps am curious to know how three separate companies can all (legally) use the -Orient Express- appellation: Belmond, ACCOR and OBB/SNCF?

My absolute favorite vid by you. That train is so beautiful it brings tears ti my eyes. The 1974 version of Murder on the orient express is my favorite who done it and one of my top movies of all time. Thank you so much
reply

Thank you for that! I'll probably never get to ride the Orient Express, but it was great to see the epitome of elegance on rails. Still, I can envision James Bond battling with -Red- Grant in that sleeper compartment!

The website luxury-trains. co. uk says 55, 000 pounds (per person) with Grand Suite from Istanbul - Paris via Bucharest and Budapest and back, that's I believe -63, 000. Good lord, the prices lmao.

All of your videos are lovely. Orient Express has always been a rhapsody on European rails. the coaches are very old, and recently have been modified with new bogies I believe
reply

Looks like a bunch of workmen in jeans filming and when you get to the sleeping cabins merchandise left on seats and upturned stalls what a disgrace-

Common people: Does this train have WiFi?
Venice-Simplon Orient Express: In this train, you don't ask these questions. You Travel.

Travelling in this train must be awesome --- I heard the route between Brod and Vinkovice is lovely, especially during snowy winters ---
reply

We travelled on this to Venice 2 days later - 27/28th; this report has missed out the best part of the train - a Grand Suite - royalty!
reply

Wow! That is an extraordinary piece of art. I feel like you would need to spend days onboard to enjoy every little detail.
reply

wow:
the art deco, the Rene Lalique appliques and the marquetry are of a stunning quality in this 'Agatha Christie' train

reply

2: 30 Pullman in this context means at seat dining.
3: 18 CS is Czechoslovakia. These have been around a while.

reply

I'm definitely riding this train after I win the lottery! Where's hercule? They have a freaking piano on a train-
reply

7: 08 beautiful! That toilet is enough to make anyone constipated. It should have a white toilet seat not a black one!
reply

IF it was all the way to Istanbul perhaps i would swallow 4700 - ticket price, but for only 1 night. NO WAY!
reply

Excellent report, Thibault, well done. I love the old feeling of solidity, luxury and tradition.
reply

The orient express is not the most luxurious train I; the world it is a Indian sleeper train
reply

This is the best luxury train I have ever seen. Perhaps one of the best trains to exist?
reply

A cruise ship on rails. Best private varnish if I've ever seen one. What a train! -
reply

Greece has also two cars ( sleeping car and restaurant car ) from Simplon-Orient Express
reply

Difficult to watch you are dodging around too much, keep still and steady, dreadful!
reply

I wish I had the money to send you on this train! Finally you review a decent train!
reply

Amazing! By the way, who is the young lady with the nice boots?
reply

80 some year old grand luxury railway cars on much newer trucks or bogies.
