All of Europe-s a night-train/And all the men and women merely passengers/They have their Brexits and their Schengen Areas/And one man in his couchette smells many farts/His trips covering different gauges/At first the teenager/Hungover and puking in his best mate-s arms/And then the whining young man, with rucksack/And bleary morning face/And then the husband/Sighing with sternness/And a where-s my passport? /Made to his wife-s eyeball/The Spanish gauge shifts into green and considered Irun/The spectacle of those/With Euros well saved/Last train of all/That bookends this changing, scentful mystery/Is second-class and near-Bolivian/Sans tea, sans pies, sans haste, sans air spring -

Such a kind of competition destroys railway business! Different operators on the same line make the timetable and the pricing complicate for customers and they make an appropriat use of infrastucture impossible. Customers exept their tickets and their travelcards to be valid on every train, so they have maximal flexibility. Indeed low prices are needed, but competition is not the way to go. Countries like Belgium or Switzerland, without competition and with one single ticketing system for all public transport operaors, have the highest railway ridership because of its simplicity and reliability. Meanwhile, people in UK startet avoiding trains as soon as they startet competition.

Completely disagree with the liberalisation of rail markets. It's turning the railways in to airlines.
All it is doing is fragmenting the market, and will lead to a poorer service on the lines that don't make money.
What happens when your local train misses the connection with the Lo-cost carrier? New ticket time. ---
Foreign trains in a different country isn't new. Trains ran successfully across European borders for decades. Orient Express?
A cheap turn-up-and-go service for all, with co-ordinated connections. That's a much more passenger friendly operation.

I'm sad in France trains are turned into money factory! The best trains in the world. :( It's more cheaper to take a plane than train inside France and France to other neighbor countries. Explain the expensive price of ticket by tracks and networks systems maintenance and new tracks builds is fake because Spain are very cheaper! Barcelone-Madrid bt Ouigo is same price as bus between Rennes and Paris (same distance, with highway and high speed tracks.

We did this trip in 1980 on our Interrail way to Morocco. The train was a Talgo, that was something special. At the station we ignored it at first, its low-slung carriages looked like a city metro. Then we noticed the locomotive at the front and got in just in time. These Tiltin' Talgos still are fascinating trains. A good concept to get more speed out of existing tracks.

10 years ago I had to pleasure of spending my birthday in Spain while on a concert tour with the University of Miami. Your video was posted on my birthday this year and it reminds me of how gorgeous a country Spain is; the people, the countryside, the architecture all just stunning! Thank you!

how did you even get a seat? I tried booking a seat online and it would stop at the payment stage. Then I tried going to the Barcelona Sants station and they had no idea either since it was all Renfe and there was no Ouigo office. Completely at loss, we finally just traveled by Renfe: (

I forgot something in the video.
SNCF with Ouigo ES and its business model (Mix between TGV Inoui and Ouigo) is now in competition with the classic AVE and at the same time the AVLO. -Kill two birds with one stone! -
In my opinion that's a great move from SNCF.

Your videos are fantastic about these trains
In South Africa we have a VERY VERY bad railway system as they steel the rail tracks and the copper cables for the signal system.
The say it could take ten years to get the system working properly again

Watching this from a third world country that doesn't spend on infrastructure (United States, it's really remarkable to me that there you have competing railway companies competing on the same lines, and that you have beautiful new railway stock.

Catalonia is a trap-go and visit the place but living and working there demands that the language be learned and spoken-the Spanish laws re very permissible on this matter, Spanish speaking s not that accepted fully there. I love Madrid better

Great video on the new ouigo Spain service it is good to have competition and also the cheapness of the price means more people can afford it. It is also good you managed to arrange for your freinds to film it for you at the time

Meanwhile commuters in and out of London and the southeast are paying ridiculously high fares which is presumably in part going to the funding of this service. forgive me for ignorance but frankly who uses it?

In a place where we have no high-speed trains worthy of the designation at all, the idea that there would actually be active -competition- in high-speed passenger rail service somewhere is pretty amazing.

Toronto to New York could use one of these. Too much Government red tape. In Europe passengers wait for Trains --- In Canada Trains wait for late passengers.

I am not wild about the pink accent color, but it could have been a worse or louder color combo - like pink and orange that keeps you awake all day or night!

I prefer some narration and not trying to squint and read nonstop white print on a video. It is supposed to be relaxing and inspiring, not tedious reading.

Be careful: -30 charge per suitcase. On the train station when they check your ticket, they will look at your suitcase and demand -30. Shameful

If you look at the front it should say of AVE S-112 it's Renfe Spanish National railways and the Ouigo is SNCF. Basically Elipsos service.

The low price is the result of good competition. More competition does create better options for customers.
