0: 50 nice catch of a surfliner with four private cars!
1: 34 that one superliner is in Amtrak California livery!
2: 20 there's that superliner again! This one doesn't look like a coach/baggage like the rest of the superliners on surfliner services.
2: 37 and this superliner in the surfliner blue is also just a coach!
3: 02 finally, a train with no superliner at all!
3: 55 nice catch of a horizon train with three private cars!

I was actually on that train with the California car right behind the business class car (it was Griffith Park, being pulled by 455. Not in Santa Barbra, but further south (Fullerton, to be exact) heading towards Old Town, San Diego. Nice catch! It's always nice to see the odd car in an otherwise normal consist.

I only can imagine sunbathing on the beach with trains passing by just a few hundred feet away, taking it to and from the beach in San Clemente. Oh what nice beaches you Californians (I mean expert rad surfers and people) have!

The Pacific Surfliner/Coast Starlight route is my most favorite Amtrak route from Civilized San Diego to Seattle. The Pacific Surfliners & Coast Starlight share the same route from Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo.

It's quite a while now since I travelled on the Surfliner route. Santa Barbara to San Diego was always on my list of trips to make when I visited California. A lovely reminder of happy days. Thanks for posting.
