Orange County is a very busy region for trains in southern California. Let's take a look at several of the trains running in various portions of Orange County. We'll see the many Metrolink commuter trains and Amtrak Pacific Surfliners as they travel between Fullerton and the beaches of San Clemente. BNSF and Union Pacific also run freight trains in portions of the county, and we will take a look at these as well. We'll also see Amtrak's Southwest Chief as it runs through the northern portion of Orange County as it travels between Los Angeles and Chicago. Finally, we'll see a few different steam trains running in Orange County

Hi Mike. I know the F59PHI fleet used on Amtrak Pacific Surfliner service and Amtrak Cascades are going to be retired from Amtrak and going to be served by Metra in Chicago between 2018 and 2020. I really love those locomotives and I wonder if you could do an Amtrak Pacific Surfliner F59PHI farewell video, before the SC-44 locomotives make their way into service. The new fleet is really cool. Those Siemens Charger engines sound pretty much like regular Amtrak locomotives with their K5LA horns. By the way, F59PHI locomotives are still used on Amtrak Capitol Corridor and San Joaquin routes along with the Siemens fleet. I saw a couple of SC-44 Charger locomotives as Amtrak's Lake Shore Limited pulled into Chicago's Union Terminal and one on the Illinois Zephyr corridor train before I set out to Provo, Utah.

Nice video Mike! An interesting video for next month's schedule should be Perris Valley trains. It would be interesting! Or desert trains, but it's your choice. Nice video! At 4: 15 was that BNSF shot before 2013 or after the quiet zone?
Edit: 450 is gone: (

Nice video Mike. Your footage is so beautiful. I love watching trains in the Orange County area but I don-t get out in that area that often. Anyway, once again, nice video and I can-t wait for next weeks video.

Perhaps sometime, Mike Armstrong, you will show us trains running along the Pacific shore when that ocean is most definitely NOT that. Let us see trains in bad weather. OK, you'll get wet, but it WILL be different.

Well, many thanks Mike. I enjoyed all that, especially the steam. My daughter is currently in Orange County CA, so I thought it would be interesting to see its trains. I do a few trains in Northern England.
