At the 3: 34 mark, you identified Cascades 501. Since the original 501 trainset was destroyed on Dec 18, 2017 in Dupont Wash, am I to assume that the Cascades 501 you filmed is the replacement units which were the original Wisconsin Talgo trainset which had been stored at Beech Grove Indiana yards until Jan 30, 2018 when Amtrak headed west out of Indianapolis with them? I was lucky enough to film their movement through Crawfordsville Indiana still in their original white-red-white colors with the non-powered drivers cab which is leading the Cascades 501 at the 3: 34 mark. I made the assumption back in January that they were headed west to be repainted Cascades colors to become the permanent replacement trainset for the one that crashed in December of last year but I never got confirmation if this was the case or not. Minus the new SC-44 Charger bringing up the rear, the rest of the 501's Talgo's trainset looks exactly like the one I captured on video as it was leaving Indiana and headed west. I would like to know if my assumption is true.

Hey Mike, I'm hoping for a railfanning compilation of trains in Rondout, ft. Canadian Pacific, Norfolk Southern, Canadian National, BNSF, Union Pacific, CSX, Kansas City Southern, Amtrak Hiawatha Service (with new cool Siemens locos, Amtrak's Empire Builder, office car specials, heritage units, and more. You could even keep an eye out for the Southern Pacific Daylight 4449. I know that's your favorite locomotive. I also love your videos on Train Talk. Could you do Train Talk episodes on MARC (Maryland Area Regional Commuter, Caltrain, Altamont Corridor Express, and Sounder Transit? I'd love to see those.

At least the F59PHI was able to boast one thing, that when the time came for them to be retired, all that were built actually made it to -end of the line- where they would join Metra. Whereas with the Chargers, one was wrecked on the first day of official service. And when their time comes years from now, we won't be able to say the same thing about them.

Are those cars behind the F-59 units functional? Are they baggage units? What are they exactly? (Design wise, these are a bit painful to look at. Functionally the probably are great but aesthetically they are bit difficult to take. I guess these are 4th tear units which is a good thing) Thanks for posting the video. They are appreciated here in Ohio.

So, from what I hear and see, the Chargers will be replacing most, if not all locomotives in service. I hope they still keep some F59PHI's. It's so sad to see the F40PH's go, though. I will miss them. However, the Charger does look pretty darn awesome! I'm gonna try to get one of those awesome beasts for my HO layout!

As much as I love trains, I think high speed rail in America is just a -Pie In The Sky- dream. Why do we need high speed rail between Los Angeles and San Francisco, Schitt hole to Schitt hole. If you like Europe so much then move there.

Awesome. I loved the video man. Cascades are the most beautiful trains of amtrak, in my opinion. But I noticed that the wagons are different, they're smaller than normal. Is it to improve the speed in railways full of curves?

These Talgo trains have been running between France and Spain from the 1960s! Very old and in my opinion outdated concept. It is justified in Europe by different gauges but why does Amtrak adopt these crappish midget cars?

I quite like the Chargers, but I think they-d be a bit more aesthetically pleasing if they all came with some variant of the streamlined front end of the BrightLine locomotives as standard.
