The last time I saw a Cascades F59PHi was at the Vancouver, Washington Amtrak station in August 2018. However, I do have one memory with the Pacific Surfliner F59's. I think it was 2011/2012 (one of the two) and my family and I had done the Pacific Surfliner trip from Irvine, California down to San Diego. I don't remember much of the train trip (I wish I did, however I do remember being at San Diego and seeing an F59PHi in the middle of the train we rode (It could've been for the Del Mar Horse Race. they also had an Amtrak observation car too) and I also remember that the train we were on hit a trespasser, and we were stuck on it for another few hours or so. Just thought I'd share a memory. as for the Cascades F59's, the only memories I have are seeing those ones while railfanning, although I did ride the Cascades from Portland, Oregon-Centralia, Washington one year (I remember that trip because at Centralia, a BNSF freight train with three engines passed us, with a fakebonnet third, and we caught up to it later. But yeah, sorry for the long comment, and what an awesome video. Shame we're all stuck with the Chargers, although I'm glad the F59PHi's have a new home.
I do have two questions: 1. What does the -i- stand for on the designation for the unit?
2. Don't the San Joaquins (Amtrak California) still have their F59PHi's?

Amtrak p42: so I guess this is good bye, surf.
Amtrak f59phi surf liner: yeah. I guess so. :(
Better than that, one of his siblings have my paint scheme!
Siemens sc-44: look I-m sorry man. . it just,
Amtrak f59phi surf liner: it-s just what? Is it just because your better than me? You took the spotlight away from me! Everyday I was popular railfan vids like coaster fan, or spencer hedges, and. NEVER MIND YOU GET WHAT I MEAN! and ones there-s no way back for the -show to start-. (He meant as in no going back for his place.
I-ll just have to find a new passenger railroad service, and stay there. FOREVER!

Oh, so the Amtrak Surfliner F59PHI's are being deleted from California so that in 2018, Amtrak will move all of the Pacific Surfliner F59's to all Metra commuter trains (Chicago, Illinois. After doing so, Amtrak Surfliner trains will now be pulled by SC-44 Chargers (built by Siemens. Forever now, Metra has been using Amtrak Surfliner F59PHI's to pull their Metra Commuter trains across Centralia, Illinois, Chicago, Illinois, Rondout, Illinois, Lake Forest, Illinois, Franklin Park, Illinois, and La Grange, Illinois. Will you also make a video about Amtrak F59PHI's on Metra commuter trains?

10: 22 This should have been Amtrak's special Farewell to the F59PHI excursion on the whole Pacific Surfline route from LA to San Diego. the power: The last F59PHI #458 leading and the first brand new SC-44 charger from the back. When the excursion ends, 458 uncouples from the consist, hooks up to the Southwest Chief with P42 198 and P40 184, and goes on it's way to Metra. Leave a comment if you agree.

I am going to miss these old engines. I loved then when they used to race pass my home. But now their time has arrived. 458 was the last F59PHI to be retired. It retired in the end of February of 2019. I wish Amtrak did a Farewell to the F59PHI Excursion (Much like the AEM7 one) Leave a comment if you agree about my comment. (Although they we're all finally going to Metra)

In my eyes is not the end. These young ones will get a new home in Chicago and new tier 3 engines. What will make of this is a new start for all of us in the railroad capital where everything meets.
Simply put, a new beginning.

I wish some we're preserved, Before Amtrak retired them, I wished some we're preserved. Like 458 being at the Orange Empire Railway museum instead of going to Metra. Please leave a comment about this if you agree. ;)

06: 55: I got to see this very trainset when I was in Oregon back in late February. It had a Siemens SC-44 Charger pushing it from the rear, so there's a connection to home there (I live in Sacramento County.

The F59PHI never broke down on any train I rode, and I've only been late a couple times. They had no trouble gaining time back when they were late. A powerful machine and the Chargers have even more power.

What's kinda crazy about what Amtrak did is that they even got rid of Amtrak Surfliner #457 (Amtrak Surfliner 10th Anniversary Unit. Now what locomotive will remember the 10th Anniversary?
