There is no known cause of this disease. Eating Disorders are not the cause. 5 million people Worldwide have this disease, it's not caused by an eating disorder. This disease occurs when the brain and the immune system stop communicating properly, and so the immune system turns on itself and attacks the digestive system.
There are hundreds of diseases where the immune system turns on itself and attacks a part of the body. It's called an Autoimmune Disease. It has nothing to do with you getting the illness.
Food can trigger a flare, but it cannot cause the illness.
So Gabi, please know, YOU did not cause this.
This upsets me because I'm currently in hospital. I've been in for 4months.
I've had Ulcerative Colitis for 10 years, but I've been severely ill for 6, resulting in the loss of 70% of my digestive system. I'm an incredibly rare case unfortunately, so the Professors say. But please, food isnt it.

You can't get ulcerative colitis from an eating disorder. Ulcerative colitis is an autoimmune disease that is chronic and genetic. She is getting colitis and ulcerative colitis confused and they are not the same thing. I have severe Crohn's disease and going vegan would kill me. I have to stay far away from fiber. Every fruit and vegetable contains fiber. The only things I can eat are meat and refined carbs. So it's not always a choice.

You cannot give yourself ulcerative colitis, you are so uneducated in the illness if you think that. You realise how offensive that is to the hundreds of thousands of people who suffer with this illness on a daily basis. Maybe educate yourself first before preaching veganism as a cure to a debilitating HEREDITARY condition.

Ok I just saw on Gabi's snap chat story that she bought a bunch of makeup products from Mac and other makeup brands that aren't even cruelty free. Like she's not vegan then, vegan is a lifestyle not a diet you don't support the animal cruelty industry at all not just in terms of food.

I really want to turn vegan because of my chronic constipation: ( but it's so hard because I'm Hispanic and all we eat is meat and when I back down and say I don't want meat they think I'm staving myself and trying to lose more weight because I'm already skinny: (

So freelee, are you assuring me that I'll be skinny af with a vegan lifestyle? But I hate to exercise plus I had an eating disorder before and I can't make my heart muscle work too much so. id still lose weight?

I don't think I have Crohn's or UC but I'm really suspecting IBS. :( good luck Gabi, im very grateful that I might just have IBS/anxiety (its not serious, doesn't cause cancer, doesn't damage your colon.
