There is some kind of technicality with them two going up against each other, although it would be an amazing match up, it comes down to Mat being on the MLE (Major League Eating) and basically Furious Pete is an independent eater.

I think we all know that you have to be able to eat a lot. It'd be more helpful if you explained exactly where and how you got started. And how it became a profession. That you can, y'know, live off of.

I'd imagine it's the same as what happens to Furious Pete. Eating that much shuts down your digestion. Furious has said many times that he's actually crapped out chunks of undigested food.
