Greek here. We know the Phillipinos. Hard working people. Hit by poverty they were forced or enticed to work abroad, both men and women. The men usually as sailors in ships (Greek ships have a Greek captain and a Philippino crew for the most. The women often take menial jobs abroad such as maids in hotels and rich houses and such. Quiet people, working hard to earn some money to feed whole families back. But all that money that was imported came at a great cost. There were already 2 generation of Philippino children raised by their grandparents, not their parents whom they were seeing once per year. They were only receiving the money. Now do the equation: children, raised by grandparents, loose contact with parents but also having some cash in the pocket. This is a bad equation since grandparents do a fine job with children under 10 but as these enter teenage years on the one hand they become restless, on the other grandparents are getting older. And thus the social trouble, we are talking about of millions of such kids. as millions of Philippinos work abroad. So the country became infested with drug cartels, also enabled by the very difficult geography with the 1000s of islands that make it easy for criminals, there are even pirates roaming around. Phillipino people got fed up and that is why they voted for Duterte. to clean the swamp. I do not know how he is faring, I hope well for the well-being of Philippinos but what is for sure is that it is nobody else's business to mingle in their affairs.
