I find it funny that people are so outraged and upset by his doing this. Look back in the history of medical research and the sciences- and you'll find that HUGE breakthroughs (not all, but the evidence suggests a decent amount) in medical sciences and cures treatments, etc, began with ONE- thinking outside of the box. I HAVE heard of people doing this before (people being, doctors- medical field. So it's not all that breakthrough- but you only ever hear about the doings and not so much about the follow-up/through, and the process of. I commend Josiah. Someone has to take the leap/initiative. Ya know? I have stomach issues myself- always have. Maybe this will be a path for me someday. Remains to be seen.

What was really creepy was that it said at the end he developed a sweet tooth which really could happen because the new bacteria wants particular food for itself and can send messages to the brain causing you to grow new habits

Are their any other IBS-D sufferers here that can relate to this guys problems? If doing a fecal transplant helped him i dont blame him for doing it. Living with this condition is difficult and depressing.

Instead of doing a fecal transplant couldnt they just take sample direct from the intestinal lining via a colonoscopy and then you can insert that with the same method, rather than swallowing feces?

I think what he did was amazing and brave only thing I had an issue with was having to eat someone else's feces or eat feces. But I'm glad that it worked out the way it did for him.

Fecal transplants have been done therapeutically in England for years with great success. The donor material is processed and its not introduced orally.
