How to Create a Funny Action Scene in Pokmon Detective Pikachu Anatomy of a Scene

If youre new to the world of Pokmon, its helpful to know that these creatures cant speak. Having one talk to you would be as outrageous as your cat engaging in conversation. So whats with that Pikachu chattering away with the voice of Ryan Reynolds? Narrating this scene from Pokmon Detective Pikachu, the director Rob Letterman sets up that little bit of crazy and amps it up for the films lead human, Tim (Justice Smith. He meets the loquacious yellow gumshoe here for the first time, and theyre joined by a handful of rabid Aipom for good measure. Letterman discussed Smiths dexterity on set, having to react to tennis balls, stuntmen and sometimes nothing at all as stand-ins for the digital critters that were added to the shot in postproduction. I've been a pokemon video game player, series watcher, and card collector since I was 8! And I was surprised at how much I actually LOVED the movie! I immediately wanted to watch it again after it was over. I definitely recommend

I really liked this movie, but it was a lot like Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Zootopia mixed in one. Sure they're both detective movies too, but the elements in the setting are exactly the same.

As a child of the 90s I was apprehensive about this movie but it looks like they really raised the bar for videogame movies. The trailers look amazing.

Had a commercial for Hudson Yards before this video, looks like a really diverse place of equality, definitely a NYT readership crowd.

Production error? Tim never gets to tell Pikachu his name, yet, Pikachu yells Cmon Tim, lets move! At the end of the scene.
