As a collector of old automobiles, I have to say. there is nothing more frustrating to see, than a collection of old cars sitting rusting and rotting in a field.
I do not buy them to resell, or make money, I collect them to enjoy, restore, and drive.
To know that these paintings will, probably in time, be thrown in a dumpster. is just wrong. They should not be boxed up in a warehouse. they should be enjoyed by the people who will appreciate them.
As this video states, the revenue is generated by the painting products sold. obviously it's not about the money. so open a museum, let people see the work first hand, display it. do not let it rust away and rot in a field. just sayin.

My theory to his popularity is, that he seemed happy, and truly wanted everyone else to be too.
We've largely lost that.
He just was, he wasn't about bling.
I understand the hair was an image, like a trademark, but he didn't seem to be putting you on.
He enjoyed sharing the joy of painting.
Look how popular Paint and Sip parties are now.
It's fun to make stuff.

I would of thought his son owned the paintings and he would love his paintings to go to people knowing how good it would make them feel to have a little part of him in their home. Although a free museum as suggested many times below would also make people happy as well and, really that was what he was all about be happy, love your self and others.

I am so happy they allow his shows to play on YouTube, he shared so much more then just painting techniques. He was a pure soul, who truly loved others and wanted to see them happy, his inner light shinned threw to us all.

I would not be painting, if it was not for Bob Ross and I thought of him yesterday as I was applying glazing to my recent painting and I could hear him say soft.
