A YOUTUBER who has always been proud of her flawless skin woke up one day, just before her 21st birthday, and noticed a few spots on her face that progressed into cystic acne. Izzie Rodgers, from Bedfordshire, started watching acne positivity vlogs on YouTube and joined various forums for advice and support. Since she became more comfortable with her acne, Izzie started a YouTube channel about her skin journey to be that kind of support to others

I had really bad dermatitis and acne in late puberty and it changed me in many ways. I used to cry myself to sleep when it was really unbearable simply because I didn't want to go to school and face everyone as they question about my face. When you have skin problems you tend to imagine the problem much more serious than it actually is. and I was so vulnerable to others' gazes(even though they are not even caring. I couldn't really hold a long eye contact with people during conversations at that time. Meanwhile I was diagnosed with BPD and the pain just adds on. The influence of the extreme sensitivity with holding eye contact and hyper-self-awareness continues till now, somehow, even though i only have minor skin problems now.
Also the title of this video just made me so anxious in a way. I just turned 20 this summer and it is so unbearable and overwhelming to think about all that struggles would be coming back. idk. I know the goal for the video is to empower and encourage people and normalize all skins so I feel bad i still feel scared. Anyways, that was my ranting, I wish you can feel beautiful in your own skin cuz you are.

I have been fighting acne since I was 20. I'm beyond forty now. That's why I used hormonal contraception for years when I stopped it, acne came back. even now. The only thing that helps me is a gluten-free, dairy-free diet. I ruled out completely white sugar, sweets. I drink carrot-cucumber juice daily. I make porridge from buckwheat, amaranth, qiunoi, I eat healthy seeds (I try seed cycling, I don't take excessive amounts of vitamins B6 and B12 - they can make acne worse. On the contrary, I use zinc, vitamin C, internally hyaluronic acid and collagen.
I am also being treated for thyroid hypofunction. I recommend that all women who suffer from acne go to an endocrinologist, gynecologist and allergologist.
There are so many triggers, we are each different and we also have a different microbiome.
The use of suitable probiotics is also important. I hope that you will find a suitable treatment for yourself, but most importantly, be confident and happy.
For external care I use pure salicylic acid, hyaluronic acid and collagen. My skin is 80% better.

I feel foundation and makeup accentuated my cystic acne. It was painfully obvious what I was trying to conceal and my skin felt so uncomfortable under it so I started going bare faced. Without all the rubbing of the brush or sponge on my skin and the process of taking it off my skin wasn't so inflamed and irritated and I noticed less spots everyday. I know it's not the same for everyone but I believe makeup can make it a lil worse. Mine was all hormonal so it didn't disappear but it was more comfortable to have less irritation. I know going bare faced can be hard for others but just know you aren't alone and you are worth more than your skin - maybe you could inspire someone else to love their skin.

I don't have cystic acne, but this like moderately bad surface acne all over my face. I've had it since I was 12 years old. I'm 32 years old now and it's still there, never got any better. Occasionally a doctor or a pharmacist suggests I stop my acne cream medication, because they assume I can't acne anymore as I'm so old. I regularly try to stop using the acne cream, but it always comes back. I have some light acne even when I'm on medication, but without the medication the acne becomes insufferable, painful and very visible.

I have acne for the longest time. i do wash my face i try this and that i cut down sugar. but still my face is dull, acne scars, blackheads. i hate it. never have the confident in my life to actually talk to people in the eye. you dont know how much we desire healthy face. and i do cry sometimes bcoz of my insecurities and at my age i see people hanging out with friends and having good times while i rather stay at home and mind my own things. Bcoz i dont like hot weather that can irritate my skin and i hate crowded. --

Girls be like:
-This is real struggle-
Here's the thing. All the family members of mine including me has pimples and acnes. My dad has worse than hers but he was never -insecure-. Those who cry, complain, and feel insecure ( Knowing that there are people who has worse appearances than yourself ) are the worst. We are trying to get better like everyone else, but not crying and and feeling -insecure-
The thing is you are making yourself feel insecure by thinking that you were meant to be beautiful forever.

Love this! Having adult acne is really tough but it is a beautiful challenge in accepting yourself in all your flaws. If your insecurities are not obvious then it's easier to hide. I am grateful for my acne and my facial scars because its forced me to accept most things about myself and reminded me that true beauty comes from the confidence within yourself. I learned how to truly care for my skin and even though I will still have acne I know my skin is the healthiest its ever been! Keep shining girl!

Blaaaaa, disgusting so much makeup. I ve always had insane skin with not even siiingle. Forgot the term pimple I think. 23 y. o. right now. My entire life with good skin compared to girls. Jealous girl will come to me and ask for advice. Just a fckin water in the morning and thats iiiiit. No 2 inch makeup, no skincare product nooothing. And ahe must have something wrong in her diet. She must find out what is it. Certain food maybe

I recently saw a video from a guy who got rid of his cystic acne by cleaning his diet and reducing stress. He realised that main triggers for him were dairy and gluten, after 2months. he got cleared. I'm all about loving yourself but it's also about your body telling you smt too rather than simply accepting it. sadly Western medicine loves diagnosing things and pills. Pls go find your triggers! ---

I am not a doctor or a dermatologist. But intuitively there is a connection in the excess of makeup-skincare (chemicals to the skin that may respond negatively); psychological pressures which create anxiety to belong and seek constant validation in social networks. We must learn to separate the health of the skin (each skin is a world) and the banality of the aesthetics of the skin.
reply

you won't believe this but i had acne this bad or worse and i just stopped washing my face bc i was overwashing and most of it its gone. maybe a pimple appears sometimes but nothing compared to how it was before. just stop using so much product and stuff on your face only makes it worse. your skin doesn't need anything extra to heal itself. just eat good and dont worry too much

I get deep painful cystic acne when I eat rice, bread, chocolate, fast foods, and drink soda. It's so hard to give up sugars and carbs because they're so addictive. Strict keto carnivore diet helps keep my hormones balance and clears up my skin. No medication. Just meat. Everytime I go back to eating bad, my skin breaks out again about a week or two later.

For everyone suffering from acne - please try Pantothenic Acid which is a B vitamin. It-s amazing for acne. I-ve seen my nephews acne clear right up when he takes it. But when he goes off his acne comes back. Get it from the health food store. I promise it-s worth a try and it-s very inexpensive. I hate to see people suffer with this when it can be treated.

Shes getting her acne in areas that show problems with the lower smaller intestines. She should get an intolerance test ASAP.
Last week I started getting 200 milia in those same places for no reason. I vacuumed my whole room (to get rid of dust mites and dirt) and it disappeared overnight. Please someone let her know about this!

I-ve got pretty bad acne (I don-t want to say really bad because people have worse acne so I don-t want to put down worse acne) and it-s just so awful. I think if I could change one thing about myself I would just get rid of all that acne. This video shows me that you can still be beautiful and can be confident with acne

Izzie Rodger has cystic acne. This type of acne is linked with internal issues - for me, it was dairy.
Ever since quitting milk protein (casein and whey, my skin has been clear, and I feel less inflammation in my body.
.
Not saying this will work for everyone, but I do believe it's worth trying.

All y'all women on this are simply beautiful, and amazingly so brave and strong. I don't have ace as bad as this but by watching y'all video strengthens me as women cause whatever i do i just can't cover mine as well and i try so hard to cover it with makeup but as we all know that doesn't always work.

Try to eat raw meat like steak tartar (Grass fed) Also raw eggs, raw Butter, raw milk and raw organs. You can buy Organ capsules From grass fed beef. Focus on liver (very high Vitamin A. Do Not eat anything else.
Try it for about 3 weeks. It worked wonders for me. All my acne went away.

Using Tca no higher than 15 % no matter what internet says 1 or 2 layers first time up to 5 layesr as your skin gets used to it will help dry out acne greatly if u get cold sores go very lightly around lips and nose area cause it will trigger them or you can just avoid those areas altogether

You truly are gorgeous. I'm a (secretly) extremely insecure person. Secretly bc I'm a Mother of four beautiful babies and I'm doing everything I can to make sure the mental health problems stop w them. Take care everyone. We are all beautiful and perfectly made

I am wondering why she did not go to a dermatologist. That could have been corrected with about 6 to 8 months of treatment! After a year she would look like she did before. They have socialized health care in the UK so its not like she has to pay for it.

What an amazing woman. She-s so beautiful!
I experienced acne when I was 26, yes. 26. It trashed my self confidence so badly.
It-s cleared up now thankfully!
But props to this girl, she has such a stunning personality and looks amazing -

Dose acne make you have a fat face? It's just that the people sharing these stories in their previous photos before they had acne thier face are slim and have a sharp jawline but after they got acne thier face looks round and chubby like this girl.

Anybody who truly cares about you won-t even see the acne on your face. It-s more like what acne are you even talking about I only see YOU. Anyone else who gives you looks in public or stares at you just be like CAN I HELP YOU WITH SOMETHING!

Guys please listen to me. I had it really really bad I cut absolutely everything out of my skin care routine and strictly only washed my face with extra Virgin olive oil and it cleared up! Please give it a shot if you-re still struggling.

This happened to me too. I didn-t have any acne till I turned 21. So many treatments and so much paint. I-m almost 23 and still have my acne, I have a boyfriend that loves me and uses my acne as a map. Keep it confident x
reply

I have mild acne but its enough to make me very insecure. My mom told me that you always see it worse than others do, and acne is something 9/10 people face and its normal, and nothing for you to worry about.
