BEFORE she lost weight, Nakeshia felt like she was settling for -bottom of the barrel boys-. The 27-year-old from Gary, Indiana had zero self-confidence and would always avoid mirrors. At her heaviest weight of 240lbs in 2017, Nakeshia suffered a -skin crawling- ankle break that made her reassess her lifestyle and begin her weight loss journey. Nakeshia began building her endurance and found a passion for outdoor running and focused on a diet of moderation rather than restriction. In less than four years, Nakeshia lost 107lbs. She has found her confidence and someone who values her and is in a happy relationship with boyfriend Seth. Nakeshia told Truly: -I am so much more confident about my body now; I feel strong, I feel empowered, I feel beautiful. The confidence level that I have now versus where I was, it's in two different stratospheres

I wish they put someone who has ruined their metabolism. I havent eaten more than 1000 cal a day in a long time and I am losing now but I dont eat more than 500. If I eat 1000, I jump on the scale and gain weight the next day. I need someone who doesnt actually eat all day. Thats just not my story so I struggle with relating to that. In the back of my mind I get envious of people who actually do eat. I know how i gained. A life of sodas, pasta and bread but for the last few years life is constant dieting, fasting, etc. But I have just sat with the fact that I will not be able to eat normally and lose weight. I've gotta almost starve. Its sad but Ive accepted. I am about 40 lbs down so clearly 500 calories is working but I wish I could enjoy a normal meal.

She was always worthy-
Really, I wish there was more information encouraging big girls (and boys) to love themselves no matter their size. One reasons she was attracting dusty men was because she wasn't confident and didn't truly value herself. -
She looks very different after weight loss however she was still very beautiful and attractive when she was overweight. If she consistently dressed well/looked good, carried herself confidently and valued herself, she could have found a good guy to have a relationship with while she was overweight.
I love the fact that Seth seems like the kind of guy that would still have dated her and treated her well even if she was her former size. ---

I think that weight shouldn't make you sad and depressed it should make your other qualities stand out more. And as your other qualities get highlighted then you have motivation to get all of you together. And as far as dating, guys treat you the way you treat yourself. No matter what size you are. So that being said, you didn't value your self and your dating life was a reflection of that. I only mention that because I hate that connection that when you are fat guys do you bad and when you slim down you magically get the royal treatment. You get what you allow. But it's great that you are happy now.

She was beautiful before her transformation and after her transformation. It's unfortunate she attracted a bunch of men who were superficial jerks prior to her weight loss. I understand she is healthier and more marketable in the dating, but the important thing is that she found a man who loves her no matter what size she is.

Not the same person. I could hardly believe my eyes. I definitely see the health/fitness value that has increased with losing so much weight. But in terms of looks - you looked gorgeous the way you were! I'd even say - cuter than now. I'm trying to lose weight myself. 30kgs. Gonna be a long journey. If I even manage.

Have not watched the video and I am sure there is a positive message at the end but this title makes it seem that to lose weight correlates to worth. And that just not the case, everyone should know their worth

I applaud this lady. It's hard and takes time. and she is honest about the loose skin and final body results. there are so many liars in social media that lie about the challenges of weight loss.

The kind of men she attracted had nothing to do with her size but her mindset! Being a big girl has nothing to do -hooking up- only. I just wanted to say that for all my gulls out there!

I saw the thumbnail and was like, 'what kind of foolishness is this'. I clicked on this _clickbait_ and. CHILE! OMG! She is truly an inspiration. Her face is so pretty! My goodness! ---

Now that she-s thin she thinks she is finding men who value her? The men into Her at ANY size are men who value you. I thinks he has just learned to love HERSELF

This has got to me one day. I want to feel healthier. - it's just so hard without someone irl to motivate me. But I really need to learn to do it for myself.

First --. congratulations on losing the weight! Such an inspirational story. In case I missed it, how long did it take for you to lose 107lbs?
reply

It's a shame that the value of a woman has to do with her appearance. not sure what to think about that. Either way, it's scary.
