MODEL, author and disability advocate Ditte Hagelund from Roskilde, Denmark was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta type 3 - also known as brittle bone disease. The genetic disorder causes weak bones that break easily, in addition to other symptoms. The 26-year-old has suffered many fractures throughout her lifetime. Ditte told Truly: -Over the years I have fractured approximately 150 bones, maybe 200, I stopped counting. - The brittle bone disease also means Ditte is only 3ft 3 tall, and mostly uses a wheelchair to get around. Growing up Ditte struggled with her appearance: -It was difficult, I didn-t look like the others, and I started to feel frustrated about my deformities, - she added. Three years ago Ditte decided to embark on a modelling career: -Someone told me that it was a pity I was disabled, because if I wasn-t, I could have been a model. It kind of provoked me. - Becoming a model has helped Ditte overcome some of her insecurities and her confidence has grown ever since. -I-m starting to see the whole person, and not just my disease, it took me nearly 30 years to learn, so it-s about time

Pretty face and look at her hands. she might be able to do very professional magazine print hand modeling. I knew a woman who just did hand /parts modeling for many years and made a living off of that alone. Because her hands were her bread and butter she had to pamper them. wore gloves all the time and constantly moisturized them. but for a few hundred dollars an hour for major products and magazines it's worth it. I also had a friend who had stunning long legs and she was just a leg model for mag print. People think being a model is all about your entire look. It's not. You can model your best features and parts if they are exceptional and in demand.

Why are the seriously malformed always becoming models! Im sorry but that amount lf disproportionateness ruins any chance of beauty this lady could have. Literal deformities are now modelling material? Come on. There are different ways for many disabled to be accepted into society, why try push this narrative that THIS is attractive? It makes me crease everytime seeing this stuff.

The requirement in modeling has really dropped. Where are the Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Linda Envangelista? Real beauty! Now, the little ones, the big ones, the albinos, the handicapped are models to make believe that we are all equal! But prejudices are still very present in our societies. and personally these models no longer make me dream-

It-s sad that this has to be -controversial-
I see nothing wrong with different size bodies that challenge the ridiculous beauty standard. I would love for my daughter to grow up in a world where all different kinds of women are on display. There isn-t only one way to look beautiful.

Honestly
If you disable like that don't do the modeling or risk your life
Not all people accept they will hurt you more
Yes you beautiful soul
Just stay at home and take care of yourself

reply

I don't look at you with someone witha disability. I see within the heart of a person, and I think that you are a beautiful, loving person with a positive perspective and personality about yourself.

Ive taken photos and had people takw photos of myself but that doesn't make me a model. Why does every -a typical- person consider themself a model cause they take pictures?

-Ah she's a true beauty standard- -She looks better then all the beauty influencers- So much fake positivity here lmao. stop lying to yourself to seek some likes. pathetic.

I, wholeheartedly, appreciate her mindset and dedication. Unfortunately, it's exponentially difficult to change visual media's propagated version of -beauty standards. -

Glad you decided to model. You bring strength to those who may feel weak. Thank you for stepping out and into yourself. Beautifully made!

Beautiful inside and out! I also love her sensual voice and accent! Wishing her all of the best! Blessings and abundance

Her condition thankfully isn-t the worst type since she can still stand up and her limbs are still quite functional
reply

She IS beautiful, she doesn't need to be 'able' for that. Whoever told her such must feel great right now.
reply

Shes cool, but I think she needs to not take so much pain killers her eyes look loaded and pinned.
Just saying.

You are beautiful no matter what beauty standards are so overrated! Thank society for that! continue to model!
reply

No offense. But why does everyone want to be a model or thinks that they are a model? What a meaningless label.
reply

Does she know what modeling is about? I don't think 4 year olds care what some clothes might look on them.
reply

This is just another scenario of how Great God is. Reaching for the stars against all odds in this life.
