I was also a teen mom(14 pregnant) just turned 15 a month before my daughter was born. I came from what I consider a privileged family w/a lot of help from them in all ways including financially-thank God. Honestly, I actually do regret getting pregnant, wish it never happened. her father was much older than me and I just didn-t have the maturity or knowledge to know about pregnancy at that time. He was only actively involved in our lives for 9mos, then he was gone. barely saw him and def did not support her financially either. Such a shame. Teens should NOT have babies. The missed opportunities, the constant rude remarks from everyone, having to -grow up- and mature so fast and not live a normal teenage life, etc, is tragic and sucks! I was/am a great mother, but I was thrusted and forced into it. it wasn-t and isn-t to be celebrated or encouraged. It was hard-sooo hard. I did go on to graduate high school(a year+ early) & went on to get my masters degree. on time. But even in college, I wasn-t able to have that same experience every normal college kid experiences. Who would want that for themselves or for their kids? Ostracized by pretty much everyone, not able to go out or go away to college or party? Horrible! That-s part of growing up. and I missed out on it all. I-m married now, have 3 more daughters and even in my 30-s, parenting is hard-but it-s actually rewarding and a happy appropriate time. Age. maturity- time- that matters immensely. No one should have a child while their also a child. Not something anyone should go thru, trust me I know.

it's not that we think teen moms only care about themselves (though there are a lot of them that fall into that category. It's the fact that you are incapable of being the kind of mom you would be had you waited ten years. Between the lack of maturity, lack of education, lack of financial/emotional/psychological stability, the complete reliance on help from family/friends/government, the unstable or complete lack of a relationship or help from the father of the child, the fact that teen pregnancy predisposes you to tons of things like your child continuing that cycle or becoming a victim of domestic abuse or living well below the poverty line, (the list just goes on and on, it's blatantly obvious that getting pregnant at 14 is an incredibly dumb thing to do, and it IS harmful, reckless, and dangerous. your child is infinitely better off with a mother who waited until she was truly ready, and could provide the child with everything it needs to flourish. normalizing kids having kids is not going to help anyone. should she be bullied or harassed? absolutely not! but she also shouldn't be praised for making it seem like getting pregnant at 14 is no big deal, and she wouldn't change it even if she could.

Love this. Tbh babies help teens grow up and learn responsibility. I really don't blame anyone for being a young mom because only God can judge. If God didn't want anyone to be a mom there would never be a child involved. But at the same time there are some people who don't deserve children. I believe us young adults put ourselves in our children's shoes along with family who love children. Never blame a child for a reason to stay home from school even if you have to do homeschooling at least up until you get in college. Anyone can take care of a baby once they put their mind to it. Isn't God amazing for allowing young teens to be a mom to learn how to raise children so that they know what to do in case they want more children later on. God is moving mountains for everyone to be able to have children not just older adults but from teens to adults to help mature and build a bigger and better bond between family and friends.

That is very irresponsible, like seriously they should-ve had delayed gratification. As a mature normal young man myself born in 1998 from Lakemba, New South Wales, Australia the younger generation needs to have self-control and self-discipline. This is what they should be teaching the younger generation about life. Here are four simple steps to have a less troubled life; step one: graduate from high school, step two: do not have children before you get married, step three: hold down a job and step four: do not commit crimes. If you follow these four simple steps your life would be less harder.

some people are saying that it's promoting teen pregnancy and others will say it's showing the lifestyle of a teen mom. both are inaccurate but life isn't constant. and you can't subject it to others decisions and actions made on their own. my 14 is pregnant now and I am completely terrified. but I also embraced the fact that i can't make an excuse of me working 2 jobs to provide and keep ties on my child while she's elsewhere. all I'm saying is stay by your kids; right or wrong. ---

This girl acts like she's the best mom but meanwhile she lives with her grandma. So her grandmother is the one supplying the shelter probably the food and all the utilities. She wants to act like she is doing it all on her own but she isn't! This girl needs to stop advocating Ng for teen pregnancy because many teens don't have a grandma they can live with like she does.

No hate on Teen-Parents, people who actually spread hate are sub-humans. There is another thing, as long as there is support and the kid gets older then the parent/parents can still do their own things. The other is, that a lot of young people don't have much support or even grow up themselves in a absolute mess. This is the sad thing.

I had my eldest back when I was 16 years old I thought I couldn't raise my daughter at the time so I gave her up for adoption.
Now as an adult I have a one year old daughter and a 2 year old daughter and a daughter on the way.
I still do have had feelings of was putting my eldest daughter up for adoption a good decision.

95% of the comment section acts like this is a death sentence when in reality Scarlett has the best possible mom she can have who loves her, has plenty of energy for her and supports her in everything. Meanwhile, all you hateful, bigoted, ignorant, judgmental people out there can go pancake SERIOUSLY.

i'm glad she's finding the positive in her situation and that she has a great support system with her grandmother, but this really looks like a generational problem. i hope little scarlett is able to break the cycle of teenage pregnancy and motherhood.

I really think people shouldn-t be getting pregnant or trying to get pregnant at this age but honestly she seems like a decent mother and is still working on her education with her family-s support so I guess that-s what matters

Why on earth would people want to abuse and kick a young pregnant girl? I-ve heard of this but just don-t get it. What is to anyone what she decides to do. Her family helps and it-s no one-s business.

A girl I went to school with was doing all of her exams heavily pregnant and is now a school teacher. Whilst I wouldn't encourage it, being young doesn't mean you are a bad parent.

I'm halfway through and I'm still trying to figure out what is extraordinary about getting knocked up at 14? What would be extraordinary is if none of them collected welfare

Scarlet? That's not the best name for a child of a 14 yr old. Maybe a nice old name like Elizabeth or Anna?
