BY THE time she was just 23, Alex had a full set of dentures - but that has not stopped her smiling. Born with a genetic issue that means she has brittle teeth, she was in and out of the dentist's office as a child. Aged 18, she underwent 22 root canal surgeries in a bid to save her smile - but within a year, things had worsened to the point where she needed all her teeth pulled. And by 23, she had a full set of dentures. Though she had initially felt insecure about needing them so young, seeing her new smile for the first time gave her a huge confidence boost. Now, Alex regularly shares her story online to normalise tooth loss. She receives lots of questions, from what foods she can eat to what her husband Adam thinks, but is happy to open up in the name of education. She concluded: I want people to know it's okay to be young and have dentures. Teeth don't define who you are. To

I don-t remember tight now when I last wore my teeth. I have full dentures, but there was a delay in getting them after my last 20 teeth were pulled, so I had lost a lot of bone. As a result, my dentures don-t work as well as they should. It-s even more complicated because I gag on the upper piece, and if I gag too much, I might start throwing up, and then I can-t stop and might have to be hospitalized for dehydration, etc. I got some implant anchors on the bottom jaw, but they don-t hold the dentures in as well as I thought they would. I really want to get implants on the top, too, so that I don-t have to have the roof of my mouth covered. I can-t eat bread with my dentures. It just doesn-t work. I am so discouraged about the whole thing, because I couldn-t help what happened. I didn-t know that I would lose bone, for instance. No one told me. The four implants on the bottom cost me $5, 000 out of pocket, so I can-t afford to get the top done too.
I had my teeth removed when I was 31. Even without teeth (lots of people never notice, somehow, I get mistaken for a teenager sometimes.

I lost all my tooth at 18. I do everthing to keep a good oral health, but it just didnt work--. Everyone keep thinking that i didnt take care of my teeth, even the dentist didn-t say anything that could lift up my mood. After i got a full fake dentals, 1 year later i grow out 4 wisdom teeth from each four side. And you know what? It got damage as soon as it grow! Fake dentals is not cheap. Thinking back, eceb if my teeth didnt got damage, the shape of my front teeth were bad, those teeth were big, inagine having four big upper teeth that have 6 lower teeth under it. My lower front teeth kinda have the normal size. I cant even freely laugh while growing up. My lower jaw is also longer than my upper one, i cant even bite the noodles. I gotta say that im happy with my fake dentures although I havent got the time to pull out my wisdom teeth now. Work and all. But at least now i can laugh freely.

I absolutely love this! I love how confident you are, and how happy you feel now. I am going through the same exact thing-I have been having problems with my teeth for the last 10 years, creating tooth loss, and lots of pain! I have just recently been able to get in to see a dentist that is willing to help me at a reasonable price that I can afford! It still feels to good to be true-I-m still actually having a hard time processing it, because it just doesn-t feel real. Maybe because I have wanted this for so long, or maybe because I have been miserable for so long. But either way, I have an upcoming appointment in two days to have my upper teeth removed, and then in two weeks I will have the bottom removed, and will FINALLY get my dentures! I am really excited about this coming up and I wanted to share some of my story with you, since you were so inspiring! Thank you for sharing!

Beautiful. I'm in my late 30's but I need this. Dentists are giving me a hard time and refusing to pull my teeth stating I am -too young-. I've had tooth issues my whole life. Brushing didn't matter. I get 7 cavities fixed, next year I go back for a cleaning and have 7 more. My teeth just fall apart now because they can only be fixed so many times. I refuse to do root canals as they are a waste of money but dentist like to make $$$$ so they refuse to pull mine. I hate having infections and pain and I want my teeth out so I can get a nicer denture smile: (

I would give anything to get my smile fixed! I have about 8 full teeth left but all are damaged due to my health: I have a life limiting genetic illness and having to live with these teeth I-ve got is so difficult. I never had a cavity until I was in my late 20-s and still had a baby tooth until this year. The issue is they went down hill all at the same time and not very slowly. I still properly care for my teeth I just feel trapped by them in their current state. Very minoring to have a bad smile

Dentures or partial dentures are more common in young people than we think. It's good to finally see some people opening up. So many others live in shame and even hide the fact that they are wearing dentures from their loved ones. It can be very traumatic to lose your teeth at a young age. Alex's story is so inspiring and it will help many other young people with tooth related issues.

Wow! This could have been my story. I had root canals in all my teeth before I was 18. I broke a molar in half when I was 12 on a hamburger. I got full uppers and a lower partial at 24. The partial broke what teeth I had left on the bottom, and now I need a full bottom but. No dental insurance and dentures/surgery is expensive. It's just really nice to know I'm not alone

Why would anyone want their natural teeth removed? I know the government is scamming everyone by making dentures standard but its not hard to brush your teeth lmao just shows how willing people are to become a sheep and follow everyone else without realizing that is exactly what the government wants, you are showing the government that society doesn-t deserve independence

Honey, you are SUCH an inspiration! I-m almost 50 and about to be getting full dentures (even though I previously had beautiful teeth-health problems developed and I didn-t have many thousands a year to keep up with what would be needed and problems worsened) so seeing people that are happy and beautiful with full removable dentures is SUCH a blessing. -

This is so inspiring Becouse I-m literally going through the same thing and I-m 23 right now with teeth that break off everyday they were trying to do root canals when I was 6 in the process of taking out all my teeth as well one day and so nervous but ready to have teeth that don-t cause me so much pain thank you I feel like I can do this now -

I-m 26 and I am in the same boat she is. I-ll be getting dentures next Friday right before the new year. and words can-t really explain what is going through my head but this girl pretty much said it perfectly. I needed to see this, my life has been constant pain and tooth loss. I-m ready but super nervous, wish me luck!

Maybe eventually you can get the type that are implanted but always remember that this is nothing compared to what some people have to deal with everyday with health issues so think positive be grateful you have your health and you're young and you have your future ahead of you

This girl just gave me the confidence to get mine fixed. I'm so self conscious of my teeth. Due to Sjogrens syndrome and medications my once perfect smile is just gone. Broken teeth, missing teeth, no back teeth. I'm getting them fixed. Thank you for being so brave!

I can just imagine someone going up to her like -How are your teeth so perfect and white? - and then she just spits out her dentures and smiles-
(im not making fun of her or anything btw, pls dont be offended this was just something i randomly thought of-)

I just had the same surgery but all at once. I have end stage liver failure and I had to have my teeth removed to have a better chance at a liver transplant. I havent gotten my dentures yet. I am 31 and struggling without my teeth now.

I just had all my bottoms pulled. I'm 35. And honestly might have to pull my tops next year. The fillings aren't cutting it. I'm abit down because of it. My dream is to have implants so I can get back my smile and confidence again-.

The world needs more men like that, truly supportive, loves her no matter what, doesn't care what she looks like without teeth (imo she's beautiful either way) and accepting of what she's gone through - they're a great couple x

Putting out a video like this does soooo much good for other young people in similar circumstances. No matter how one finds themselves in this situation. .. this remedy certainly helps to restore their confidence.

Your right beutuful is skin deep. My husband isn-t that attractive for real. But his attitude is beutuful. You might not have your teeth but your prettier than a girl with a bad attitude that has all her teeth.

I saw someone like this is in college that was a friend of my two roomates. I just never asked. I just assumed that he had gotten in a fight or had an unfortunate freak accident. Maybe not.
