PASTRY chef, Catriona Kalmanovitch, from Massachusetts, weighed around 235lbs at her heaviest, and the weight was causing her pain and impacting her job. She remembers being bullied for being overweight from the age of 10. At school, she was called nicknames like -cow- and -the blob-. Catriona told Truly: -It really made me feel like I wasn-t good enough, like there was something wrong with me. But since losing 100lbs

I can relate to this in so many ways. the way she talked about food being her everything was just like an addict in recovery. Heroin was my friend and my lover. I was made fun of for being skinny my whole life. As I finally grew into myself in my early 30s I got a bit bigger, only for people to either make fun of me for being big, or for bigger people to basically say I didn't get to feel bad for being made fun of for being bigger than I was, as -there's people a lot bigger who have it worse-. You really can't win

I'm super glad for her! I know people that unfortunately, despite bariatric surgery, haven't been able to achieve healthy weight, mostly because family environment maintain bad habits with food. It's great too that she embraces her body with the consequences of the big weight changes. I've been struggling for a year now to lose 5 kg, the last are the harder ones to lose! I know I need more physical activity.

She's done good. When you lose a lot of weight there are people who don't like it because you take away their comfort zone. They look at you like (some say it out loud) at least I'm not like you. Those who will quickly tell you that you need to lose weight will get ticked when you do. That's from all sizes of people. Then there will be some genuinely happy for you. Don't let mean people invalidate you.

Proud of you Katie, I just wanted to say that for you and all the other people in this world who have been bullied for their looks remember this. The so called perfect human is the one who lifts people who is kind and non judgmental those who don-t have these skills are the ones with problems and need help. Just smile at them and remember you-ve got it! -

I like the fact that she began her lose weight journey with one motive and in the end she was seeing other more important changes (like being healthier) skinny shaming is a thing especially when you live in a place where fatness and being overweight is the norm. Shaming someone no matter the reason is BAD and should be addressed and stopped.

I have never related to anyone more in my life. My dad used to point at obese people and tell me that if I wasn-t careful I-d end up like them, he would also grab my belly and call it a rubber tire. I ended up hating my body. Despite the bullying she endured she seems like such a kind human being, I wish her all the best on her journey. -

I just found her video via snapchat and I just want to say that she seems like such a sweetheart and nice person. I am glad that she will move past again those negative comments and focus on her health and what makes happy - cause happiness and health are the most important things in life. She is a strong girl and an inspiration.

This is the problem with people. You can't have fun they take everything literally and seriously. Which means I have no sense of humor. Yes one of her parents said if you got that big I would shoot you. Which is obviously a joke. But people these days take that as you would rather see me dead than fat. Come on grow up

Well done for losing the weight, you were pretty and beautiful then and you are just as pretty and beautiful now. There will always be haters based on there own insecurity online. Just stay true to yourself and know this video will be inspiring, and that you are inspiring. Xxx

This is exactly what happend to me. I'm 17. I was 220 pounds about two years ago. Now I am about 140 pounds. Seems like some people just enjoy body shaming me. I don't give a f. I never did. but it would be nice if we all could be a little bit nicer to people around us.

This just goes to show no matter what you look like, what you do, who you are the world will judge you no matter what, so you might as well be and do who you truly are. This world is cruel and full of hate. Just be yourself.

I've been through the same. I lost 30kgs now I'm on a healthy weight but people call me a skeleton and say I shouldn't exercise anymore, even tho it makes me feel happy. They tell me I should gain weight to be pretty again

Shes not even unhealthily skinny. She's a perfectly normal healthy weight. I wouldn't consider her skinny if I saw her on the street. She looks great! But it's sad what some cultures have decided is unhealthy.
reply

Honestly I would of thought this would of been more motivational if she had lost the weight naturally, instead of getting surgery. But that's why surgery is available for people who just can't get it off.

Wow, when it comes to women's bodies, nothing is off limits. No one wants to be shamed for their body or appearance. I wish people would keep their mouth shut if they don't have anything positive to say.

Exactly you can win with yourself. I'm struggling to loose two and half stone, I'm now over weight ever since lock down. It's so hard to get the right mindset. And for her to be a pastry chef! Amazing!

How's 135lbs too skinny? She looks normal weight. That's overweight for my height too. Those people skinny shaming are just ashamed of themselves because they couldn't lose the weight.
reply

Disown them, period. They expect you to come back to them because you are their blood-related grandchild, then they can f-off. With relatives like that, she's got no need for enemies.
reply

It proves people are assholes no matter what. So these people need to gain a better mindset. Which is once you realize this you'll be happier in life. The world will never be a Utopia.

My stepmom hates me after I lost weight. It's really sad she is ANGRY I lost weight when I am healthier than ever. She and her two daughters are VERY overweight.
reply

She is extremely attraktive.
Could be the reason why people are so ugly to her.
They are just jealous.
I would go out with her immedietly

I love her story. It's amazing to here the down side that you may still have with losing weight. This just shows you can't please ppl only yourself.
reply

She seems incredibly kind and did a great job choosing to be healthy and being consistent! What others think isn't important, it's how you feel: -)
reply

She's a lovely person. I hope she stop paying attention to what others say and just focus on her own happiness. Good job losing that much weight -

She was made fun of for being fat, and shamed for being skinny. Society is so fickle, nothing is ever good enough
