JESSICA Manning, 28, from New Zealand, was born with heart disease. At 19 years old she went into heart failure, and then aged 22 she was diagnosed with liver disease. Both her organs deteriorated and finally, at 25 she had a heart and liver transplant. Jessica had a donor's heart put inside her and keeps her old heart in her wardrobe, which she uses to educate people on the importance of organ donation. Explaining her medical journey she said, I've had five open heart surgeries, two pacemaker surgeries, one emergency lung surgery, and over 200 minor procedures throughout my life. In this episode of Born Different Jessica answers some of the most frequently asked questions she gets on social media. Some of the comments include, 'why did you choose to keep your heart? ', 'it's gross and mouldy! ' and, 'it looks like chicken'. In response to the critique of her old organ's appearance she said, in my opinion, I think it looks like cookie dough. In an emotional moment, Jessica was asked, 'what would you do if someone stole your heart? ' She admitted, I would cry, I would honestly cry

Some people wear their hearts on the sleeve. She keeps hers in her closet! -. All joking aside I think it is interesting and awesome she has it. She is so strong and brave. Much tougher than me or most of us commenters. Seriously how brave. Bless her ----

I would be overjoyed to receive life saving surgery but I would also think about the person who died and the loss of their family I would be truly grateful for the decision to donate organs so others have a chance to live

That-s awesome! I wasn-t allowed to keep my tailbone when it was removed because they called it -medical waste-. - They-re our body parts! We should be able to take them home.

Now that was some -heart- warming stuff but not for the faint -hearted- who may find this -heartache- inducing stuff but I guess you could say she has a solid -heart foundation-.

This clearly is not in the US. as they would not let me keep my Gallbladder, or appendix (for scientific purposes. But she has it in a luxury ziplock bag. smh

My wife stole my heart! All joking aside, you are brave to share and for what its worth, I think its pretty cool you can show off your heart for education.

Honestly, I dont know if I would keep any of my organs if I had a transplant. As long as she is fine with it. it doesnt affect me so go for it.

The only reason she got that procedure done was cus she had a lot of money. Those procedures cost well over 1 million dollars with insurance

What Would you do if a pirate steal your Heart, put it on a bottle with sands and then proceed later on to stab it with a knife -

Stories like these are so. much more interesting than the ones about shallow, vain sugar baby bimbos that truly usually does.

Just wondering why didn-t she freeze her heart? Or keep it in a sealed jar of fluid so maybe it could retain its shape?

How was she able to keep it? I asked to keep my Fallopian tubes but they wouldn-t let me. She had awesome doctors.
