Neil claims he has too much washing to do so why does he want to wash just a towel? Or could this just be another confusing English expression? Luckily Neil and Feifei are here to explain what 'throw in the towel' really means

Idioms stick really well in my mind thanks to the expressive images chosen by the lovely & professional team of BBC learning english . today i saw a cloud like the image of the expression every cloud has its silver lining and the idiom popped up all by itself ! it made me so happy . conclusion I SHOULD NOT throw in the towel one day i can speak english rather naturally .

I wont throw in the towel I have plenty of times already to prepare for my exams. The clothes arent exactly the problem really, the problem is my mother always buys some clothes and they end up being dirty at the end of the day. Just try to reduce unnecessary old-fashioned clothes. Charities are maybe good places to give these things. Thanks BBC for this sharing.

When I was at school, I usually had had a 5 minuets listening test before we started the class every week. The test contents were taken from six minutes English. I was always wondering how they have such natural dialogues as real and actual conversation.

Are these phrases used in daily conversation nowadays? They sound interesting but all totally new to me as I rarely had a chance to encounter those expressions in my experience. Just ask to know so that I will be confident to use them. Thank you
