Funny old world. --Axexis Sayles.
You see, Squid have no ears. More than that, they are the same density as water, insofar as echolocation and targeting goes. Sperm (and other SoNAR users) can't detect squid in the depths by means of echolocation. The squid are largely invisible to the frequencies used. Because of their impassivity to sonic variations in their environment, it's unlikely that sperm whales use Clangs (look it up, they do emit a very high volume pulse downward periodically) to stun their squid prey. Like any other suction feeder, they simply suck their way through gatherings of prey. Science has really let us down, dramatizing the battle beneath the waves aspect of simple suction feeding. .. simply to capture the imaginations of possible donors to the funding cause. Or more views for advertiser happiness.
Why do bull sperm whales use the clang then? Speculating, I suggest that they are looking for a suitable fishing 'ole, not detecting squid 1000m deep. Plus, it makes them seem cooler to the females, which is the whole of argument AGAINST the natural selection theory.

She's being submissive. She wants the dude to pet her. I've watched a few of these videos. These whales are incredible. No doubt in my mind that they are intelligent competent creatures with a complex family system that remains tight at all times

I don't understand, people say that their sounds can damage your ears or even kill you and yet he was right in front of it with no ear protection when it was clicking and nothing happened?
Can someone explain what is happening?

reply

or they could know your shape by seeing you with their eyes in this clear water BOZO, not all about you, they were doing their own thing before you arrived, world not revolving around your precocious curiosity.

it always freaks me out how different the sperm whale skeleton is from its body shape. and what that might mean for extinct animal reconstructions
reply

Sperm whales are so loud that their clicks are capable of killing a human within their vicinity
