In the last days of a drought, as the water level shrinks, bull hippos face more and more competition for the coveted deep river channels. Proximo: can't understand one thing; what's the point in watching/ filming, why there's no ongoing effort to actually address the obvious problem; for example tree planting which could raise groundwater levels by lowering evaporation and rising groundwater absorption as already demonstrated many other dry regions. I'm just saying; you might have nothing to film left sooner than you might think, watching the current pace of populations decline.

And the drought is still bad in South Africa around Kruger, rain is badly needed for many of the animals not only hippo's.
