I suspect Walt Disney was a man of his time. Women didn't work- for the most part in this era, so it wasn't a _Natural_ idea to hire women. Casual Anti-Semitism and Racism was the norm in Middle-class Americana; that doesn't make it right, but it was what nearly everyone encountered. It didn't help that when the Unions began _-attacking-_ his company (from his POV) many of the top Union Hierarchy were Jewish, many were Socialist, and _they painted him_ as being Anti Semitic when he was fighting for what he had spent decades building. Not many of our grandparents could defend themselves from racism or antisemitic attitudes. Many of the _Progressive Thinkers_ from even thirty years ago would be considered prejudiced today, and we're talking about a guy who grew up a century ago.

Like all of histories great innovators and leaders, Disney was human, not perfect. Yet, our world is a better place because his good far outweighed hs bad. Disney showed us that sometimes we need to dream the impossible dream and believe the end will be better than the journey. Disney may, as a human, fallen on -the thorns of life and bled- many times, but he left me with a vision that I could strive for, and walk in the clouds.
Very thought provoking documentary as your others also are.

Yes Disney was an enormous asshole but I think the world is better thanks to his existence and would have been better if he lived longer! As far as being a racist in that time movies were drowning in ignorance. Shirley Temple movie The Littlest Rebel was so bigoted it made me blush and don't get me started on Victor Flemings Gone With The Wind! I'm glad we are more enlightened but not nearly enlightened enough. Donald Trump's following is evidence of that.

Some of you that are watching this might find it cool to know that a company called 'Thank You Walt Disney Inc. ' bought his old studio in KCMO and is making it a sort of tribute to Walt and his company. Really cool to see how much that man is still influencing people today. I think no matter the opinion of modern Disney, that we must support them no matter what because if Walt's dream dies out then so does the imagination of every American child.

As a 61 yr old woman this makes me ill. I didn't realize -Disney was a womanizer, Misogynist, money-hungry butth0le! -
Everything I thought I knew about him was wrong! I wanted to be an artist at Disney when I was young. guess that would have never happened even if I had been good enough!
-I admire talent and drive, but I don't admire --_That! _- I thought Disney was recently tarnished, but nope it apparently was tarnished long ago.

LOL at the people complaining that Disney didnt overpay everyone the way they wanted. complaining that non-artists were getting paid an average of $12 per week instead of the average of what was just over $14 per week. hey, nobody was forcing anyone to work there. he did without and took way less pay himself than anyone else in his position. he spoiled and overpaid employees once they had worked there a while and had earned it!

A true Walt Disney fan would find it hard to have a favourite, instead, favourites. But for my favourite song, I was shocked watching this and finding out feed the birds was Disney's best, Its also my best cinematic musical jam, i have got it in my playlist at this very moment
I love feed the birds and colour of the wind,

Say what you want, but nothing in our history compares to the wholesale suppression of freedoms of all kinds by modern day Leftists in the Disunited States of America. Indeed, the woke mind virus has turned half the population into zombies capable of nothing but destruction.

My uncle an artist took his drawings his portfolio into Disney and was hired immediately. He worked on some of Disneys early cartoon movies. He became a union representative and helped create the cartoonist union. He had one word for Disney -skin flint-

Ub Iwerks DID NOT creat Mickey Mouse. Walt did. You-re biography has so many flaws and reading from other-s comments there is no reason to continue with this. I stopped viewing at the 9: 43 mark. Next I guess you-re going to say Walt was frozen.

Aw--you missed two close calls in 1918--Walt Disney was in the Chicago post office as a mail carrier when a bomb went off on the other end of the building, and then Walt fell ill with the Spanish Flu. These had some impact on young Walt.

As a kid, I never liked Disney nor Disneyland and now I know why: it was totally fake just like Hollywood was a very corrupt facade! Btw, I hate liars and pretenders. IMHO, Disneyland and its' subsidiaries are a house of cards!

Well a lot of interesting facts about Walt Disney the man. However, I wasn't born until 1985 so I would have to say that my favorite Disney cartoon slush movie is Beauty and the Beast 1991.

Bolshevism and communism are jewish. Disney was correct. And look who is responsible for turning Disney productions into a satanic institution now. The same guys he threw out. What irony.

I'm probably gonna get hate for this comment but i think it's a valid concern that a woman might get pregnant and stop coming to work because of said pregnancy.

Disney could make magic, and those who want to vilify him rarely speak of all the good things he brought into the world. My favorite was -Sleeping Beauty. -

Isnt a lot of this footage copyrighted? Or were you actually able to compile enough permitted fair-use from a multitude of sources?
reply

Compared to what disaters Disney, the company, produce today, all of Walt productions were beautiful magic when he was alive.
reply

This telling of his life make him sound as ruthless and charming as Charles Muntz. I always thought they had an eery resemblance.
