Course Description In 25 episodes, we’re going to learn about geologythe study of Earth’s physical structure and processes. Our host, Sage, will teach you about the geological forces and cycles that shape our planet’s past, present, and future. This content is based on an introductory university-level curriculum. By the end of this course, you should be able to: Trace Earth’s development from its earliest periods to its current structure Understand the forces of plate tectonics and how they shape Earth’s landscape Describe the formation of geologic elements like minerals, rocks, and gems Identify geologic forces and cycles that impact the earth, while dispelling myths about extreme geological hazards Learn what geology reveals about Earth’s distant past and what it can teach us about our current changing climate Explore the geology of other planets within the context of Earth’s unique and common qualities and phenomena Become familiar with different specialities within geology and what different types of geologists do Key texts cited include: Marshak, Stephen. 2021. I can't wait for this. I studied geology at university, and I still love the science, even though life happened and I do not work in it. This course will remind me of some of the things I learned in my university days and the excursion I took with my professor around my beautiful country, Greece.

Thank you for sharing the joy of rocks, I can't wait!
I had students excitedly bring me a rock today! With the help of other teachers, we ID'd the rock and did an experiment on it.
Best part The students are 15! You are never too old to love rocks.

Oh boy I am looking forward to this.
A few months ago I searched for Crash Course Geology but only found Crash Course Geography.
That one was good too but I look forward to this one especially!

When I hiked the Appalachian Trail, I got the trail name Ooh, Look, because of how much I would point out cool rocks, weird lichens, gnarly trees, and my little buddies - the red efts.

There are the rocks themselves, and then there is the deeper geological engine (the processes) driving their creation and destruction. In deep time, the rock cycle itself comes to life.

I'm currently bumming around the US. I've been picking up a rock from everywhere I stop and figuring out what it is and how it formed. This couldn't come at a better time!
reply

This comes at such a perfect time because I was just reading journey to the center of the earth and thinking, I want to know more about geology. Looking forward to it!
