In which you are introduced to the life and accomplishments of Alexander the Great, his empire, his horse Bucephalus, the empires that came after him, and the idea of Greatness. Is greatness a question of accomplishment, of impact, or are people great because the rest of us decide they're great? Also discussed are Kim Kardashian and the Situation, gender bias in history, Catherine the Great's death (not via horse love, the ardent love other generals John: Notwithstanding the travesty of celebrating 'great' men of violence, Alexander very consciously established Greek culture across the conquered lands. Without him we may not have heard of Aristotle, Archimedes, Euclid, Democritus or Pythagoras. We may not have put such value on democracy. These influences predate Napoleon.

I dont understand why you were trying to make a point of how many men were given the title -the great- what is your point? Are you trying to say that Alexander's campaign to conquer the persian empire wasnt great? It just makes you sound bias imo.

Don't diss Kim K, she is a bussinesswoman who rules the world. I would argue she is greater than any angry man who decided to steal some land because he needs to feel fulfilled by violence and glory.

0: 25 Nah, I'm watching this in a dystopian future where civil unrest has seen a spike all around the globe. A pandemic has spread across the world. DO NOT JUJU ON DAT BEAT IT LEADS TO DARK PLACES.

Daniel 8: 5-8 and 21-22 states that a King of Greece will conquer the Medes and Persians but then die at the height of his power and have his kingdom broken into four kingdoms.

Persia was much weaker even before Alexander came to power, and their riches were ripe for the taking. By no means were they weak, but they were no match for the Phalanx

Alex and the Greeks were a spin off from the Persians. Alex was anything but great. Do take any Greek accounts with a pinch of salt. For history is written by victors.

Does anybody else think the stuff about mysogony is a bit forced? Like yeah women are under represented in history, but what does this have to do with Alexander?
reply

The most important thing that I realized here, is that John Green is wildly in love with Kim Kardashian, and he is very angry that she does not belong to him )

Other sources mentioned Alexander kingdom was divided into 4, by his 4 generals: Cassander, Ptolemy, Antigonus, and Seleucus. So what happened to the 4th?
