what's important to remember is that the sodium potassium pump is not restoring the resting potential because it is too weak for it. the former concentration is caused by it but the resting potential is caused by the fact that potassium flows out

Good job, but see Bozeman on how the action potential propagates. This explanation is not quite right; it does not explain why the potential travels in one direction, rather than both. Bozeman explains that.
