Today, FINALLY, Craig is going to talk about Free Speech! Now, free speech is so important because it not only allows you to critique the government, but it also protects you from the government. But it's essential to remember that not ALL speech is protected equally under the First Amendment, and just because you have a right to free speech doesn't mean your employer, for instance, can't fire you for something you say (unless your work for the government and then things get a bit more complicated. So we'll take a look at a couple significant Supreme Court cases that have gotten us to our current definition of free speech, and we'll also discuss some of the more controversial aspects of free speech - like hate speech

I can't find myself to agree that there are no good forms of violence as far as symbolically, like the flag burning that's allowed right? So how can you just describe the hitting of the bird as not symbolic but just violence? Not to mention you said at the end that you had the freedom to do it? That confused me. I believe that it depends on the person and their morals, as an example I burn a flag saying I want no government, that would be innocent. But then a group of teenagers that don't know about being civil decide to attack the White House, then my action could be considered violent even though I was trying to exercise a right to speech in a symbolic way that at the least could be considered peaceful violence if it was going to be considered violent at all, I feel people are losing the fact that in every matter there is a right and wrong in it; never is there just wrong or just right.

So lets say i'm the government. What stops me from creating a symbiotic relationship with giant corporations to the point of becoming virtually indistinguishable from one another? -
They'd follow directives through laws and meetings, have direct and indirect accesses to tax money but are not bound by a constitution and are not even accountable to the population. -
I have now created a make-believe democracy where the information is controlled, censored and distributed by an unofficial branch of the government. -
Totalitarianism by proxy as group of big tech companies control the totality of the media platforms, and the State cull the concurrence for them and make sure that the giants never fall.

I'm glad you cleared up the issue of hate speech. while I wish you went more in-depth in that regard since it's now a pressing issue with its relevance to freedom of speech (ridiculous I know, I appreciate you showing the clear precedent for why hate speech is protected since many people can't wrap around their heads that exceptions to freedom of speech only comes when said speech can result in lawbreaking action or an event occurring that violates the core values of the United States which otherwise wouldn't have happened said expression didn't occur. Thanks.

My question is, why can government stop the sale of certain songs and albums. A couple songs from ice t were not allowed to be sold Bc of their highly controversial topics. Why isn-t that protected?
