The fourth planet from the sun and the outermost of the terrestrial planets, Mars has long been a popular spot for missions and imagination. Phil walks you through the planet's topography, core, and features. We'll take a look back to Mars's past and makes predictions for its future, including the possibilities for human life

Anyone get unreasonably annoyed at the mixing of Greek and Roman names? Mar is Roman, but Deimos and Phobos are Greek. Deimos should technically be Metus or Formido, and Phobos should be Timor, Timorus, or Pavor.
There's also caves in Virginia where a column is called Pluto's (Roman) and instead of Proserpina, they called something else Persephone (Greek.

Is it possible in theory to use Mars' moon Phobos as a starter -Dyson Sphere--like structure, adding to the moon, in effect, causing friction to kickstart Mars' inner core, essentially awakening it, creating a magnetic field. creating a global green house effect on the entire planet? Is that possible? How does all that work?

Ok this is an older video but I'm watching through your series as it is AWESOME. So thank you. I do have a question though, the telescope you have there. What kind/ how old is it? It truly catches my attention every video. Also I'm jealous of the Lego falcon. One day I'll own it haha

There will be life on Mars, & it will be us. Right After you told us Phobos was going to collide with Mars. We'll have to do something about that moon before that happens if we expect life to stay for good. Well at least until the sun's expansion messes everything up: )

One of the -smoking guns- for ancient water on the surface of Mars is the delta sediments in the Eberswalde crater. it is a designated landing site for future robotic trips and would have been an excellent example to show the evidence in your video

I think that if the magnetic field gone away and there-s still a atmosphere. it must-ve had a very strong one and that is how I think that there was water and how there was life
reply

Maybe I missed this but I'm sure in school in science and on the Internet I was told mars does have water it's just frozen on the top of the planet like a North Pole?
reply

Mars is worthless as a second home for humans we should be focused further out say calisto and just use mars as a way station to refuel
reply

i dont get it, how can an atmosphere and an entire magnetic field just disappear!
Its like somebody or something just pressed delete.

It-s craz to think about the billions of complex and crazy planets in the universe with not a single living soul to appreciate them
