Every time I see any butterfly, I always admire their beauty and imagine them as different varieties of fairies. Still funny that our ancestors probably saw little butterflies or other insects as the good or little people.

We dedicated this episode to Debbie Ford, the mother of butterfly researcher Aaron Pomerantz who we see in this episode. Aarons mother passed suddenly shortly before the episode was completed.

Like how a sign doesn't get posted until someone screws up, do organisms get warning markers after a hundred or so generations have their life continued by a mere glimmer of light?

Reminds me of clearwing moths. Found a hornet clearwing a few weeks ago and it managed to fool me with its mimicry for a bit before I realized it was a moth!

Reminds me of vantablack weirdly. Structural coloration to eliminate shine is so interesting compared to how its usually discussed, like beetle and crow colors.

Absolutely Stunning! I've never heard of or seen this type of butterfly. All Praises the HOLY Father, Creator of all for His Wondrous & Beautiful Works!

I swear to God I saw one of these on my trip to Mexico, I was so confused since it was my first time encountering one. It was an amazing rare encounter.

This is intelligent design.
Evolution camnot plan anti glare nano coating without research & knowledge.
Atheis ppl just cannot accept the truth.

this is some incredible insight into the organisms that are home to planet earth, we humans can benefit from this> no money or politics, darwins theory

I wish I was transparent then my doctors would not have to probe my insides with cat scan x rays and angiograms dream on but someday?

Still think shorts are a waste of time. They aren't really a DEEP Look. Thanks for at least providing a link to the full episode.

Glasswing butterflies want to make something very clear.
They know you love them baby, that's why you brought them here.

That is astonishingly genius. They evolved not just to have transparent wings but also to make them anti-reflection
reply

Its really smart how Glasswing butterflies evolved to lack colour pigments on certain parts of their wings.

How is those wax maintained?
How is that nanopillar structure created?
Nature always fascinates me: -)
