DIY SLA 3D Printer Kit (Moai) Review Jon: When I was a teenager in the 90s my dad managed a shop with a 3D Systems SLA machine that cost over 1M. It was mesmerizing. I loved hanging out there and sometimes got to earn a little money finishing parts that had to have support structure removed, or washing off the excess resin, etc. All parts got baked in an industrial UV oven after cleaning and finishing to finalize the cure. The resin was 600/gallon and the anhydrous alcohol wasn't exactly cheap, either. Replacement lasers were somewhere in the five figure range, plus labor. It blows me away that nearly the same quality can now be produced by a desktop machine for under 2K.

Laser is just as slow as the filament printers.
It draws the part in nearly same way piece after piece, layer after layer.
LCD or Projector printers project WHOLE LAYER at once.
With Laser, adding multiple objects will multiply time it takes to print, exactly the same way as with filament printers.
With LCD/Projectior printers, it does not matter how many objects you have. They will all be printer in the exact same time as long as it takes exactly same layer count.

A fairly good review, I'm just unsure why you printed the ring at 0. 2mm in FDM and 0. 1 in SLA. That's a pretty unfair comparison of everything, including print time as you didn't mention if that 22 minutes includes the washing and curing time.
Also, it looks like your delta printer has A LOT of issues, for a start I'd lower the print temperature and add a cooling fan.

thanks for the review. TWo questions. First is to ask what the quality of the galvos and drivers ie 20KPPS and second, is there an fTheta lens in there somewhere to address aberrations at the extremes of the build area? Thanks for the review

I love how when people compare resin to FDM they always use the shittiest FDM printer they can find. Actually, it's usually about the slicing more than the hardware. You can get perfect results on a RAMPS if you tune the slicer properly.

I love your videos. You gave me the courage to actually draw my own PCB. I'm no engineer and I know very little about electronics but your Videos and Google helped me. First PCB is on the way! Thank you!

REsine too expensive surface to small speed to low, resine too dangerous, smell too much, need to clean all after use, when all problems where resolve I buy it: -)

I watched a video about the Carbon M1 yesterday. Within 10 min, I figured out what they were doing. I'm so glad someone else knows the supposed secret process.

you know that a bigger llayerhight slows an sla machine down because the laser has to move slower to put out enogh power to solidify the resin thik enogh

Conclusion: Use this for object that requires pin point detail, such as tiny objects.
For bigger one possible, use general 3D print instead.
