How easy is it to visual track an object? PSVR Headset Tracker with the OpenMV-H7 Camera! SaltyBrains: Haven't watched the video yet, but I have a prediction:
- that the openMV cam will indeed track the headset and translate it to a servo for movement quite well.
- that the PS software will not understand that it's camera has moved, and thus not have a correct frame of reference, and fail to be useful or useable for this purpose.
(plus lag between tracking, servo movement, and PS camera update, will also make the PS game go a little crazy)
. okay, watching now to see if i'm right.
edit: okay, seen the rest of the video now. good job: this is pretty much the most basic of purposes the OpenMV (formerly CMUcam) was made for, single coloured object tracking with output to a servo/motor. It is probably the #1 tutorial in their getting started guide (haven't checked in a long time.
Now you gotta add a bunch of stuff like not moving the camera constantly but only when the detected object moves beyond a defined constraint (possibly a circular one) so it isn't stuffing up your gaming constantly but just a small adjustment when you near-exit the playable area. etc. This would stabilise it a heap and make it more useful.

What about placing the OS came on the headset, then placing the PSMove Camera with its own target for the OS cam to track & placing the PSMove Cam on a linear rail that can slide a little to the left or a little to the right (i. e, no rotation for the PSMove cam, just some addition to its operational width.
Depending on tolerance of sliding the camera left or right and at what speed; if it worked smooth enough, you could then add similar tracking to slowly raise and lower the PSMove cam too. The tracking on the OS cam on the headset would be simple, fixed; if tracking is lost sending adjustments to the PSMove Cam, then it could just default return to the optimal centered position.
Or someone could hack the Kinect v2 to supplement the PSVR headset. where's something like that at damnit!

Keep up the awesome work! I might get Tetris effect. Can you believe Joseph is 16, and Greentea is 20? That's crazy. I hope Jonas makes it back next year, but with the hyper tapping, I fear he may not. Maybe we will see you in Portland next year?

I'm using casual webcam with botbol wallabi(microcontroller. There's a lot of useful commands that helps with tracking, selecting colours. For me, that's enough to start in bear rescue competition; ) PS: (I'm writing in c)

While everyone says moving the PSVR camera while playing is bad idea because the camera tracker is supposed to be a stationary object, how about if Sony provided options for moving tracker compensations?

This is completely off topic but how did you get so good in electronics? Also got any book recommendations? I want to self learn this but I always find myself lost. Anyways thanks for reading this.

One of your best video IMO. Gave me a lot of ideas for other applications. I am assuming just the sample code was in python but could be programmed in C.
