In this episode of DIY or Buy we will be having a closer look at a cable tracker. It is a tool that is used to locate wires in you wall. This is helpful to drill holes in your wall or to locate a fault in your wiring. I will show you how the sender and receiver functions and afterwards I will create a super crude, but functional DIY version in order to find out whether we should Buy the product or create our own DIY version

In my country these detectors are not used with active phases. It is very dangerous, as much or more dangerous to encourage a technician to use them. because, we do not use light constructions, but we uses brick and concrete, that makes trying to locate a conductor through a noise generator, completely unsuccessful. You can see to used by communications and telephone personnel. Please caution, ELECTRICAL HAZARDS

Hey Scott. Pls make a video on iot blynk home automation. Which includes real time feedback. And manual control. From appliances to the app. With explanation. There are lots of videos but none of them explain clearly.

I am not so convinced. Your setup was the most easiest case I can imagine. The buy version I had didn't work so well. Barely gave a signal through stone and other (unconnected) cables close by also gave a signal.

I would go with the buy for once, for a safety concern I don't want to screw up everything and short circuit wires. Even if both work exactly the same if i buy or do one what I'll look at first is relibility

bro make a circuit with transistor to add 1 or 2 digit numbers. it's not a simple task, and remember. you don't have to use a ic, for visualisaiton you can use a ic but for calculation use transistors

Amazing video as usual! But why not use a simple Darlington pair to detect hidden current carrying conductor? I think that would be the simplest solution given that these transistors are dirt cheap.

Well you can buy one Amazon you can see through walls using x-ray technology and without use of any wire well who wants a buzzer that can't see and lots of wire this thing is wireless

Buy: Finding pipes and other metal objects in walls is just as important as finding wires, so you want a multifunction device that can detect more than just AC cables.

Luckily I have brick walls so the cables go straight up from outlets and use the roof cavity to move horizontal. Just have to avoid places above an outlet.
